I have been working at QUIKRETE full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Family like atmosphere, amazing team to work with, plant manager actually cares about his employees and customers, you hear that you are appreciated almost every day, steady work flow,

    Cons

I think our ordering system could be updated/ completely revamped, being such a large company there should be a way to have everyone's custom pricing in an electronic data base so that we don't always have to go through pricing books. Pay is a little low but that's what raises are for! Work hard, and show up to work and you'll get there

    I worked at QUIKRETE full-time

    Pros

Good holiday schedule. That's literally all I can think of.

    Cons

I worked for a company that was recently acquired by Quikrete. Upon acquisition, employees learned things would be handled much differently (and not in a good way). Benefits were absolutely ridiculous, there was no communication from upper management, people were stripped of job responsibilities without explanation. Basically, everyone was in the dark and probably still is. They told groups of people they would survive the acquisition, only to come back a few weeks later and tell them they were going to be let go. With one group, they did this 3 or 4 times. People were/are in a constant state of anxiety, waiting for upper management to change their minds. It is absolutely unconscionable how they treat their employees/run their business.

Advice to anyone thinking of working for Contech Engineered Solutions/Quikrete: RUN AWAY! Avoid the sinking ship.

    Advice to Management

Stop purchasing companies you have no intention of running. Leave good companies alone.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Get your behinds out the office!

    Pros

    Lower level folks are great.

    Cons

Leadership sucks, stagnant wages and the benefits are a joke. No care for anyone that is below middle management. No ability to move up or increase pay. Find a better company because there is a reason they have a rating of only a 1.8. Read the reviews, they are mostly negative. This is not due to disgruntled employees but due to poor leadership and employee appreciation. No matter what they say, you can always find better pay and better benefits elsewhere because this company has their interest in mind, not yours.

    Advice to Management

If they are too stupid to see the 1.8 rating and do anything, they are too stupid to take advice.

I have been working at QUIKRETE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

it is steady work, 40 hours a week, can't think of anything else

    Cons

you don't get paid what you are worth, management looks down on you even when you are more qualified than they are, management wants all the power therefore they treat you like children in grade school, not very flexible with time when it comes to hourly workers. the morale is extremely low in the workplace and they frown upon people that try to make the place bearable to work in.

    Advice to Management

try taking some management classes to help you better communicate with your employees. Managers need to let their supervisors do their job instead of trying to take over everything. Listen to your employees and make us feel valued. Juvenile trips to the bowling alley and cake every month does nothing for the morale in the workplace. It wouldn't hurt to try harder and put more effort into your employees. Stop allowing your managers to put people down and belittle them. You should second guess who you have in management. Even the CEO won't smile are speak to you unless you hold a higher title.

I worked at QUIKRETE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Job was very flexible, didn't have issues requesting time off or coming in late/leaving early when things came up.

    Cons

This company does not pay market value on any of their positions. It's a common theme throughout the workforce. No room for growth, and a lot of times you'll get blocked from transferring to a vacant internal position even if you're qualified for the job. Favoritism runs rampant due to the good ole boy environment. The real people who make this company run gets overlooked, while the fakers get all the praise.

    Advice to Management

Plan things out better, let your employees know they actually mean something other than be robots that make you more money for your acquisitions and fancy club seats at falcon games. Have room for growth for those who do want to work there their entire adult lives.
