I worked at Qantas for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great company and colleagues to work with. A sense of family amongst crew. Safety is the priority for the customers and crew. If you want to see the world great perks for your family as the travel benefits is great. Flexible schedules that you can swap with colleagues except if you have A days (avail/stand by) that no one would really like .

    Cons

You have no control of situations so you have to be adaptable schedule wise.

    Pros

Staff Travel benefits are great but only if you live in Australia. Compensation is okay. Australia-based employees are wonderful to work with!

    Cons

Major cutbacks and layoffs during the Transformation has employees working multiple jobs with minimal support. Lack of training and development.

I worked at Qantas full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great people! You meet colleagues who will turn into friends from all walks of life across the world. Travel benefits are satisfactory (as long as you're employed of course), so make us of it as long as you can. The "Spirit of Australia" is evident everywhere you look so it's hard not to get caught up in it.

    Cons

With severe cutbacks as of late, morale is low.

I have been working at Qantas for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good agile vibe, loads of innovation, some teams hugely diverse, great culture.

    Cons

Still a public service 'reward loyalty' mentality present. Anyone good (or who manages upwards) is fast tracked, everyone else stagnates. Salaries low so jobs go to more mediocre applicants for whom the mat leave and travel benefits are appealing (not families).
