I worked at QinetiQ North America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good at attracting talented, passionate, and empathetic employees. My boss and others on my team were awesome mentors.

    Cons

    - They don't put the well-being of their employees first. Engineers pulled all-nighters in the office frequently when up against project deadlines.
    - No money or time was ever allocated to developing the software development infrastructure. The codebase was a mess. The whole process was terribly inefficient and it was very easy to see how it hurt the end product.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees more.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at QinetiQ North America full-time

    Pros

In general, the staff is very high quality, they teach you as you go along. There is not one person at my level that has done anything short of work hard and share knowledge to help better yourself and others.

    Cons

Extremely dated tools, relies heavily on Microsoft word and excel for change management that requires very high manual entry and often leads to human error. Vendor selection is very poor and often there are meetings held to beg them to put up with abnormal quality checks. Design documentation is very bad: poor tolerancing that leads to error; no automated bom through SolidWorks (just very outdated thinking); no desire to get things right even if it takes five minutes; so much lack of standards.

The upper management is nightmare: the VP actually belittles anyone that gives feedback on his ideas. You don't dare challenge or you get made an example of a disloyal employee....

    Advice to Management

Stop being so cheap and get a proper material request planning system, teach people how to properly use your CAD tools, and don't make fun of your employees for their ideas...

I have been working at QinetiQ North America full-time

    Pros

    -Some really great people
-Pay is in line with the industry standard
-Flexible with regards to taking time off or working from home when needed

    Cons

-Dry, tedious work; more paperwork than engineering
-Upper management with big egos, no consequences when upper management mistreats employees
-management is not invested in helping employees grow. you get pigeon-holed into tasks and its very hard to break into new things.
-You have to use PTO to attend company sponsored events...
-Very quiet company culture and very little camaraderie. People barely talk to each other except with regards to work related things.
-poor communication both between and within departments; it is really hard to keep up with what is going on and it creates many instances when things have to be rushed.
-not immediately vested-have to stay for minimum of 2 years to keep 401k benefits

    Advice to Management

-Offer more opportunities to add versatility to the work
-stop allowing upper management to get away with treating employees poorly
-don't make employees use PTO for company events
    -improve communication

I worked at QinetiQ North America (More than a year)

    Pros

The heads of each department are very approachable and willing to teach. Exciting technology, especially in the robotics division.

    Cons

Building doesn't have a great atmosphere, but as I was leaving they were gearing up for a location change. So that probably isn't the case anymore

    Cons

Hours are too long and don't allow for much time off

    Advice to Management

    They try hard

I worked at QinetiQ North America full-time

    Pros

Location was convenient if living near Boston. Ample parking. Pay seemed fair.

    Cons

Coworkers were inexperienced, often given tasks beyond what they were capable of, and not overseen by competent engineers.

    Advice to Management

Work together to avoid fighting over resources. Reduce the cutthroat culture that was portrayed.

I worked at QinetiQ North America full-time

    Pros

Flexibility in my specific department, great team.

    Cons

Leadership was not strong. Should have never sold out to the SI Org! Them preaching "best athlete" was a joke. It was more like let's get rid of all of the QNA employees.
