"Good, growing company, but new CIO is quickly dragging down IT - morale is suffering"

I have been working at Qlik full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice colleagues; very collegial IT group worldwide; less politicking than at other companies; really good benefits, including annual "244U" day to study and another annual day to volunteer; very flexible work arrangements, good work/life balance, CEO who strongly appears to care about employees

    Cons

IT has gone from bad to worse under new CIO who started in Dec 2016. Has absolutely no leadership skills. Not spending any time communicating with the organization or even fairly senior managers. Only seems to be interested in Agile and outsourcing. Morale is plummeting, and IT is likely to start losing more good people (a trend that started with the previous CIO, who lasted 20 months). This CIO seems more interested in recruiting friends than recognizing talent based on actual skills. As a result, no one sees any career paths.

    Advice to Management

Replace the CIO with someone who can lead, communicate, and set strategic goals and objectives based on the business vision. This view is widely shared throughout Qlik IT right now, sorry to say.

    Pros

The work ethic of this company is amazing, it is a well-oiled machine.

    Cons

The company did away with summit, which I believed was a great opportunity for all colleagues worldwide to collaborate.

I have been working at Qlik full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice Pay Check that gets deposited every two weeks.

    Cons

Don't question anyone above you. Their Hubris will crush you for thinking differently.

Screw the customer over and try to get them to pay for Professional Services that you should have provided up front because Sense is not Enterprise ready.

If you are focused on the next big sale then this is the place for you. Just be ready to move on when you start to see the warning signs.

You will come in one day and someone on the account team is gone, and you won't know if they left on their own, or were pushed out.

Toxic environment that used to be great. They lost their Swedish Soul.

I worked at Qlik full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    * See a problem, come up with a solution, and the opportunity to address it is yours
    * Strong core values: challenge, move fast, open & straightforward, take responsibility, and teamwork for results
    * Accessible executive team
    * Tons of good people to work with from all around the globe
    * Qlik Sense is a great product

    Cons

    * Company is privately held by a private equity firm so most likely quite a different working environment from when the company was publicly held
    * Company is somewhat slow to offer cloud and SaaS offerings, and the services around those (e.g., full-fledged CSM program) which will affect competitiveness in today's B2B tech market

I worked at Qlik (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is still okay to work for. It used to be a lot better, but they still hire people that are generally good, open, honest & want to do the right thing.

    Cons

Things really started changing after the acquisition. Employees were left in the dark about their futures, which led to a negative environment.

    Advice to Management

You should share more of your strategic roadmap with your employees to foster camaraderie.

    Cons

No real people development; only concerned about numbers and numbers and numbers; company has lost its core values and humane face
