I have been working at Qlik full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Casual dress everyday. Free snacks, bread and cheese daily...Free flavored waters. Free coffee and tea. Great people in each department.

    Cons

Since Qlik was bought out in August 2016, the attitude or mood has changed. Stress seems palpable now. Almost no company sponsored events since buyout. Executives rarely leave their Ivory tower and say hello. Managers are all over worked. They are trying to accommodate wishes from those in the Ivory Tower even when they know the requests make no sense.

    Advice to Management

You are losing your best people to other companies by chasing profit profit profit for the new owners...Don't forget the people who make Qlik A Great Place to Work.

"Good, growing company, but a few Entitled Cowards (not CIO) are dragging down IT"

I have been working at Qlik full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Colleagues (for the most part everyone is amazing and willing to collaborate for a common goal; but there are a few exceptions...see 'Review Title').
    2. Benefits (SOLID Healthcare, Life Insurance, Fitness Reimbursement, 401k Match, 24-For-U, Tuition Reimbursement)
    3. Work/Life Balance (SOLID PTO, Vacation, Holidays, and working Remotely is widely supported)
    4. Corporate Social Responsibility (AMAZING...Change Our World Day & other opportunities to give back throughout the year to make a difference in the world).
    5. Executive Management (CEO, CFO, CIO truly care about their employees and have always made themselves available regardless of your position/title).

    Cons

At Qlik, our employees are expected to embrace our Core Values:
    1. Challenge
    2. Move Fast
    3. Take Responsibility
    4. Open & Straightforward
    5. Teamwork for Results
Unfortunately, there are a few Entitled Cowards that, rather than CHALLENGE themselves to sit down with IT leadership, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for their opinions, and have an OPEN & STRAIGHTFORWARD conversation to solve a perceived issue, take the "Cowards" approach and ask for the heads of IT leadership all the while masked in the shadow of anonymity on a public website. And when I say 'Entitled', it is these same few that are bitter about they or their team members being passed over for promotion or for attrition of colleagues/friends within IT. At times, we all are forced to deal with the frustration of not getting promoted or attrition but it is how you deal with these situations through your actions that speak the loudest. Anyone that acts in this matter at Qlik should seek career advancement elsewhere because you do not represent our Core Values and you do not reflect the type of Character/Leadership that will help this company succeed...don't let the door hit you on the way out.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on our Core Values when we interview potential employees/contractors so that Qlik continues to be a great place to work!

I worked at Qlik full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility to work from home. Free food and snacks. Health Benefits have a reasonable deductible. Cutting edge BI products. Ability to work with and connect with people from all around the world. Very philanthropic company.

    Cons

All of the $$$ coming in through the front door goes right out the back. They actually spent tons of money on creating a talk show format just to deliver the annual kickoff meeting. A host, TV cameras, couches, a band. Then it was taped in front of an audience of employees (who were allowed to leave work to attend btw) and later simulcast to the very same employees and the rest of the company. Tons of $$$ wasted on a 2 hr meeting that could have simply been held in a large conference room. You just can't make this stuff up! Just one example out of many!

No real governance over operations which leads to increased costs due to inefficiency. Attempts to correct this have been painfully slow and lacked proper funding and support from management. The company had lost so much $ because of poor operating margins that it had to sell to a private equity firm who is most likely going to put some spit and polish on it and sell the first chance they get.

Feedback to upper management in operations is frowned upon. You are not viewed as a "team player" if you raise concerns. Very political and retaliatory. They simply expect you to perform with minimal tools and support. Beware!

    Advice to Management

Now that you've lost the ability to call your own shots hopefully the new outside ownership will help you to focus on what's really important for the companies long term profitability. Including corporate governance, valuing your employees opinions, and providing them with the necessary tools and support to do their job.

I have been working at Qlik full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice colleagues; very collegial IT group worldwide; less politicking than at other companies; really good benefits, including annual "244U" day to study and another annual day to volunteer; very flexible work arrangements, good work/life balance, CEO who strongly appears to care about employees

    Cons

IT has gone from bad to worse under new CIO who started in Dec 2016. Has absolutely no leadership skills. Not spending any time communicating with the organization or even fairly senior managers. Only seems to be interested in Agile and outsourcing. Morale is plummeting, and IT is likely to start losing more good people (a trend that started with the previous CIO, who lasted 20 months). This CIO seems more interested in recruiting friends than recognizing talent based on actual skills. As a result, no one sees any career paths.

    Advice to Management

Replace the CIO with someone who can lead, communicate, and set strategic goals and objectives based on the business vision. This view is widely shared throughout Qlik IT right now, sorry to say.

    Pros

Nice Pay Check that gets deposited every two weeks.

    Cons

Don't question anyone above you. Their Hubris will crush you for thinking differently.

Screw the customer over and try to get them to pay for Professional Services that you should have provided up front because Sense is not Enterprise ready.

If you are focused on the next big sale then this is the place for you. Just be ready to move on when you start to see the warning signs.

You will come in one day and someone on the account team is gone, and you won't know if they left on their own, or were pushed out.

Toxic environment that used to be great. They lost their Swedish Soul.
