I have been working at Qualcomm full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Just bumped up the pay scale.
If you get a good group, there are good people.

    Cons

Not that many good projects to work on.
    Company is losing its value.

    Advice to Management

Focus on culture change. You're never going to attract talent with your dinosaur culture.

I worked at Qualcomm full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Work life balance
    - Innovative people
    - Bleeding edge Technology
    - Enterprise compute
    - Benefits
    - Corporate culture - no dress code

    Cons

    - Dead end Career
    - Tons middle management and useless directors
    - Low team morale
    - Lack leadership
    - No job security - offshoring
    - No visibility to the business
    - No training
    - Management "Boys club"

    Advice to Management

Build on team morale instead of your own career to the top. Remember what you were hired to do....to manage your team. Give recognition for hard work and not discourage employees. Tear down the boys club mentality. Give the employees a career path and something to work towards. Give employees ownership and visibility to the business improvements that are making an impact. Stop the offshoring and near shoring!

I worked at Qualcomm as a contractor

    Pros

Tons of benefits (on site cafeteria, access to sports and fitness centers all over San Diego, shuttles to and from other buildings across town, on-site employee perks like mobile spas, food trucks, etc).

    Cons

Huge company with lots of internal politics, recently went through a major reorg so the culture is hopefully more open and less about "who you know and how well you play the game"

I worked at Qualcomm full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    * Benefits are good, but not as great as they were in 2008 when I joined; Healthcare, bonuses and stock took a significant hit after the Fall layoff of 2015.
    * Employee is generally taken care of and has many additionally benefits aside from the aforementioned.

    Cons

Too many managers with conflicting interests, overlapping areas of focus, and their own agendas with no repercussions for their misuse of resources or their failing to follow corporate policies; essentially many little unaligned kingdoms fighting for territory.

    Advice to Management

Executive management needs to get departments working together to accomplish the same goal instead of building individual empires with conflicting self interests.

    Pros

    Advice to Management
