I worked at Qualcomm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    You live in San Diego.

    Cons

Too stressful! HR has been trying to improve work life balance but the culture is suffering from the vicious circle. If you don't work late night and weekends your review and bonus suffers. Despite the lip service "we must reward productivity and not long hours".

Too many a holes are being promoted despite the CEO's claim "we don't promote a-holes". HR does not protect the individuals from retaliation from higher ups unless where the retaliation might create legal problems (e.g. sexual harassment)

    Advice to Management

No advice other than that upper management made way too many mistakes and stock price and the employees suffered as a result. Upper management must be fired. Thinking that the ones that made so many mistakes are the same ones that will improve the business is insane.

Also Q must stop moving more jobs to India and China. Qualcomm is now too vulnerable if any destabilizing events took place in these countries (e.g. India Pakistan war)

    Negative Outlook
    Approves of CEO

I worked at Qualcomm full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    * Benefits are good, but not as great as they were in 2008 when I joined; Healthcare, bonuses and stock took a significant hit after the Fall layoff of 2015.
    * Employee is generally taken care of and has many additionally benefits aside from the aforementioned.

    Cons

Too many managers with conflicting interests, overlapping areas of focus, and their own agendas with no repercussions for their misuse of resources or their failing to follow corporate policies; essentially many little unaligned kingdoms fighting for territory.

    Advice to Management

Executive management needs to get departments working together to accomplish the same goal instead of building individual empires with conflicting self interests.

Bureaucracy slows things down and you're working for the evil empire.

    Advice to Management

Make it more personal. Less rules, and more family events.
