I worked at Quantum Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Engineers to work with. Great Insurance, 401K matching

    Cons

The management is the worst I've seen in over 25 Years developing Software. Especially the Tape Automation Management in Englewood Colorado. In my opinion, they are why the stock went from $40.00 per share to $0.40 per share in 15 years. It hit a low of $0.09 a few years ago. They also show favoritism to a few brown noses, that got all the kudos, raises, etc...

    Advice to Management

Look into a different field of employment. Maybe Men's Rooms attendants, or their assistants.

    Cons

    Organization/people slow to innovate
Little opportunity for career or skill growth
    Don't generally invest in people

    Pros

Flexible work-hours, casual dress-code, and easy to reach management, independent working environment, and decent paid-time off from work.

    Cons

Lack of growth opportunities, no mentorship programs, no 401-K matching from the company, and the company overall lacks any time of 'workplace culture.' The employees can be rather cold and it takes a while to feel welcomed.

    Advice to Management

The lack of growth at the company is concerning, which is possibly why the turn-over rate at Quantum seems to be so high. Setting up a mentorship program at the company would also help retain talent, especially younger, less experienced talent.

    Pros

Great flexibility, good pay, great benefits, savvy employees and leaders, loved the autonomy

    Cons

for sales they have unrealistic numbers based on territory. Some people get way better territories but we are all treated the same, it B.S. Leadership team, boring boring boring especially the CEO.

    Pros

Great company to work with; superior products and service offerings. Senior management support is very good.

    Cons

Team management is weak; does not provide career growth opportunities; does not value employee contributions.

    Advice to Management

To advocate performing skip-level meetings with employees to address morale issues.
By doing such meetings, you will retain high-performing team members.

    Pros

    Great co-workers, some good technology.

    Cons

People at top making irrational decisions with zero regard for anyone involved.

    Advice to Management

Let middle management do their jobs and support their reports without fear of reprimand from above.

    Pros

Lower management gave employees good treatment, upper management kind of gives you the run-around on layoffs.

    Cons

Lots of layoffs, doesn't seem to be a long term place unless you want to wait for your severance

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent about the plans to the employees. CEO's talk the talk but seem to lack on follow through.

I worked at Quantum Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people were great, and I was given a lot of opportunity to advance. I've had some great mentors and managers during my time there. Great technical minds, and the ability to innovate in the marketplace.

    Cons

With the above pros, the biggest issue is lack of forethought and long term strategy. Quantum senior management seems to jump on any buzz, make it the "focus" for the quarter, and if it doesn't immediately blow up, try to change direction again. Sales quotas are changed constantly, marketing shifts constantly, and as such there is never any traction. In addition, there is a fairly large "old boys club", which keeps some management around even when they severely under perform.

    Advice to Management

Play to your strengths, innovate within your wheelhouse and focus on the verticals instead of trying to spread out to other product offerings.
