I have been working at Quartech Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Quartech offers excellent benefits and a laid back environment - probably because they do so much business with government. The staff are great and the management are very down to earth people, genuinely interested in their staff. The Victoria office is nice. The Burnaby office is shabby - but rumour has it that they will be investing in some new office space in the next few years.

    Cons

The Burnaby office is very segmented and individual business units don't seem to have much interaction with one another. There are a lot of silos of information, few processes, and a definite lack of documentation which makes onboarding new staff very difficult.

    Advice to Management

Continue engaging with your staff, look for a new location for your head office, and start sharing your vision for the future with your staff. There is not good corporate communication.

I have been working at Quartech Systems full-time

    Pros

A very positive work environment; people are pleasant. Good training opportunities. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Pay is not based on market rate nor does it reflect demonstrated successes. Though opportunities to learn are available, do not expect an increase in salary that reflects increased responsibility or profit earned by the company from your contributions.

    Advice to Management

Employees who produce results are a valuable asset to the company.

    Pros

Put you in Client side, nobody is "watching" on you.

    Cons

Never work as an employee, lower pay and bad benefit.

    Advice to Management

put more focus on those employees who are working at client side

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

    flexible work schedule
    great people to work with

    Cons

as a contracting company, sub-contractors are viewed as dollar signs.
    years of service are irrelevant

    Advice to Management

your business model relies on secrecy and unfairness. You treat people poorly and pay as little as you can by keeping your dealings secret. Each person should be able to see your take of their rate, as well as what you take from others - really, you should have a standard fee for your service and charge everyone the same.
