I have been working at Qubole full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    * Transparent leadership
    * Trust in the employees
    * Great list of customers - Land and Expand - Not seen something like this in my experience.
    * Product with great potential to be the next big SAAS company.

    Cons

    * Need some key recruitments in Product and engineering team, I know they are working on it and I am sure they will do a good job going through the interview process myself.
    * Sales team made recruitments and are starting to deliver again after a recent turnover in the team. Need to deliver more to achieve the high bar set by the management.

    Advice to Management

    None as of now.

I have been working at Qubole full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is rare to see a startup so focused on both its customers and the execution of their business. The leadership team is fully aware that Qubole's cultural values are one of it's strengths and have weaved in new hires that bring with them a wealth of startup experience that embrace that culture. This is without its challenges; but, common when a small software company grows into the enterprise space.

In terms of day to day interactions with cross functional teams it's been refreshing to work with such a group of smart egoless people. Everyone, including the CEO, is very accessible.

As organizations continue to adopt the cloud and take on the challenge of big data projects Qubole has positioned itself well at the intersection point of the two.

    Cons

If you don't include typical startup challenges, none.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on execution and customer success.

I have been working at Qubole full-time

    Pros

Remote work is nice but extensive travel leaves little time left for any decent quality of personal life

    Cons

Management will scream at you on a weekly if not daily basis
5-6 weeks a year of travel for internal meetings for sales people with multi-million dollar quotas and lack of pipeline
Firing anyone that deem not a "cultural fit" regardless of your ability to sell - completely political environment
Constantly firing people leaving the remaining team walking on egg shells for fear of being next
Not ready for Enterprise deals but has a full team of Enterprise sales people ready to sell but unable to. Product doesn't work and they blame sales instead of the people building it.
Pay is significantly less than competitors pay for the same role. Will nickel and dime and refuse to pay commission.

    Advice to Management

Something needs to change or you'll lose your entire salesforce.

    Pros

Concept was a game changer at the time
At one time, it was fun and Visionary. It can happen again.
    Free Daily Lunch

    Cons

    1. Growing pains or perhaps just pains
    2. Stagnation: Not moving fast enough to the original start-up mentality
    3. Product still needs stability. Niche.
    4. New Management results in tense atmosphere
    5. Clique hiring process - qualified candidates ignored even for initial interviews
    6. Company cultural bottleneck: successful legacy start-up mentality employees now experience spotty collaboration from new hires of extremely large public enterprise companies
    7. Legacy Star talent across engineering, and marketing are terminated or leave
    8. Excelling Sales people leave, because inability to execute
    9. HR pressured to comply with orders even when not good business practice
    10. With new executive team, everyone knows they are replaceable matter what they have accomplished each and every month has resulted in high stress environment
    11. Competitors have caught up and fast exceeded
    12. Pay grade is below par considering hard work, poor benefits and current culture of uncommunicative silos between management and teams
    13. Playing catch-up when you were once an innovator start-up is tough
