I have been working at Queensboro Shirt Company full-time

    Pros

Queensboro is always striving to be better (Fred's stated goal is for us to be a "great" company). While there is always room for improvement, the company is definitely on the right track. The leadership at Queensboro is wonderful and full of empathetic individuals who actually listen to their employees. Even among the administrative team there is a noticeable effort to get to know their workers as individuals. Job...

    Cons

Despite striving for greatness, pay at Queensboro is only slightly above average--not bad, but definitely not great (especially when you consider that the Wilmington area is a relatively expensive place to live). Also, the health insurance benefits could be much better.

I worked at Queensboro Shirt Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Most co-workers are good people. Ping pong.

    Cons

This company boasts publicly a great culture but in reality it's a culture of fear. Everyone (and I mean everyone) fears losing their job at the whim of the scattered owner's "4P" approach to leadership (he doesn't possess them but will fire for not having them) and one other person. These two dictate every decision. A second person has hands in everything and is exceptionally unqualified to do so but has the owner's...

    Advice to Management

Either drop the "principled" P in the 4Ps or learn what it is.

I have been working at Queensboro Shirt Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The first time I walked in to the building, I knew I wanted to be here. I prepared for the interview more than I ever had before and I really have not stopped preparing in the two years since. The work challenges you to be better and the rewards reach beyond the office walls. Hard work is rewarded hard. Open door policy with management is not just talk. Camaraderie between all departments is a priority!

    Cons

It is a BIG undertaking, but the building could use more love. The snack table is too close to my desk.

    Advice to Management

Keep the four Ps (Principled, Positive, Productive, Proactive) and greatness is yours. Figure out the parking situation 'cause you are going to need it.

I have been working at Queensboro Shirt Company

    Pros

Flexible. Challenging. Customer and employee focused. Setting goals for all the right reasons, not just pushing for profit. A building full of thoughtful and hard working individuals. Lots of different characters there with no shortage of diversity. Definitely not a "boys club." In fact, 7 out of the 15 team leaders are female. This is not a place for negativity. Management is fair and transparent. Have never experienced...

    Cons

As some have said, the building could use some work. That said, they have great strides in this regard and continue to improve each year.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Keep your eye on the team and continue to support our growth and learning. Never settle and keep pushing to make sure we have all the right people on the bus.

I have been working at Queensboro Shirt Company

    Pros

Queensboro is one of the only jobs I've ever had where I don't dread going to work in the morning. In fact, I'm often excited to see what the next day will bring. The camaraderie between employees is fantastic, and no matter what department you're hired into, you will quickly sprout friendships in all other departments as well. The customer service team is top notch, and dealing with escalated customers is minimal...

    Cons

The building could use a little work, sometimes there are creaks and leaks. It's not the best part of town, but definitely not the worst. It can sometimes be a little hard to find some privacy on breaks, unless you leave the building. All of the departments can get a little hectic during holiday and busy seasons.

    Advice to Management

You've got a great thing going! Continue to develop your employees and building relationships within and with the customers. May want to get some maintenance done on the building.

I have been working at Queensboro Shirt Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This company gets it right with a focus on relationships by building trust between employees, customers and business partners. We have been evolving into greatness by living the 4 P's: Productive (are you good at your job?); Positive (do you generally see the good in each day and help to lift others up around you?); Principled (do you treat others the way you want to be treated, with respect and kindness?); Proactive...

    Cons

The benefits are adequate but it is not a Fortune 500 company so the benefits philosophy is just different. The location, culture and challenge make up for it!

    Advice to Management

Stay true to building relationships built on trust, keep building on the philosophy that the best people make for the best teams. Recruit the best, develop and retain them.

    Pros

Queensboro is a company that is always striving to get better and they are 100% customer service focused. It is an extremely encouraging environment where hard work is appreciated as much as your feedback! A great place to work. Employee events make it really fun too!

    Cons

The Building could use some updates

I have been working at Queensboro Shirt Company

    Pros

Open floor plan, no offices or cubicles. Very open lines of communication between employees and management. Frequently promotes from within. M-F work week with flexible hours in most departments. Monthly luncheons to help keep everyone within the company up to date with what's going on. Management actively listens to employee suggestions to help make the company great.

    Cons

Not located in the best neighborhood. Not a very large company so there is limited opportunity for advancement but those that do work hard are recognized and rewarded.
