    Positive Outlook

I worked at Queensborough Community College full-time

    Pros

High collaboration with others, diverse student and faculty population, small campus with high standard curriculum, and city pension, medical and dental benefits.

    Cons

The morale is quickly dissolving partly because of upper management and lack of growth for faculty and staff. Currently they are undergoing attempts to negotiate a new contract with the city (6 years without a contract). The buildings need to be updated as they are old (they still have a trailer on campus where they hold classes and have offices). Workplace bullying occurs and nothing is done to bring in the administrators who have a history of this to upper management for evaluation and intervention.

    Advice to Management

Attempt to increase morale and stronger feeling of community rather than administration vs. faculty/staff. Have an open door policy and because so many are fearful of disclosure, have an anonymous way for faculty and staff to notify management of workplace issues. Unfortunately transparency is no longer a feeling of welcome at the campus.

I have been working at Queensborough Community College part-time

    Pros

Great coworkers and the benefits were awesome. I loved working with the students and helping them find their best career options for the future.

    Cons

The pay was not very good, even if you had an advanced degree like a masters or doctorate. For the amount of time you work you are paid only pennies more.

    Advice to Management

To suggest raising the pay so that everyone can receive their fair share for the services being rendered.
