    Pros

The pay is great with super and the opportunity to salary sacrifice. The job itself is what I love the most. I find it interesting and challenging enough to keep me interested.

    Cons

Staff culture. People who have worked there 15+ years set in there ways and think they are untouchable, which in my experience they are as when an issue is raised your given a copy if the code of conduct and told to read it. The untouchable staff then continue to do what they like. Also training for staff seems to be a luxury only certain staff get, people are put in roles where they have no clue what they are doing usually when the departments are already short staffed and this just creates more chaos.

    Advice to Management

Give administration staff only limited time in certain roles and be made to rotate through out other roles so they cannot get too comfortable. Or have a better management structures to ensure staff follow the codes and policies or be held accountable.

    Pros

Has the potential to provision quality services to the community

    Cons

Has an embedded hard core culture of workplace bullying across most QH sites

    Advice to Management

Stop protecting sections of management that cultivate this ongoing workplace bullying and deal with this horrible culture

I worked at Queensland Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary sacrificing makes it financially very viable to work for this organisation. Liked the variety in working for them. Training opportunities are very good. There is the remote allowance and benefits with free flights twice a year for employer and immediate family to major city, and annual bonus

    Cons

Rostering is really bad with usually not presented until days before a new one is about to appear. Every fortnightly nearly ending a long stretch of shifts with 4 night shifts

    Advice to Management

Please consider work life balance when rostering and that people need their roster at least 2 weeks ahead

I have been working at Queensland Health part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary package benefits, and other tax benefits. And a secure income. Strict governance in place so you could have policy to refer to

    Cons

Limited career enhancement, people whose got experience in the job does not have many opportunities to gain promotion. Too many of those been there so long doing the same thing complains about their job. Yet does not have the confidence to walk out .. creating a very negative culture working environment for the new employee

    Advice to Management

Seek people with real management skill, not hand the opportunity to people just because they are there long enough.

    Pros

Generally other administrators staff were friendly enough

    Cons

Was on the admin relief pool and found management unapproachable in many ways.

    Advice to Management

Make a better effort to touch base with staff you have rostered onto shifts but not seen for weeks.

I have been working at Queensland Health full-time

    Pros

Once you are employed by Queensland Heath it is nearly impossible to be dismissed for not doing your job properly. You can basically just turn up for work everyday.

    Cons

Once someone is employed by Queensland Health it is nearly impossible to have them dismissed no matter how incompetent they are. Middle managers have no training so staff reporting to them have to do the best they can.

    Advice to Management

Do more checks on your managers. Listen to the staff under them as they are more aware of their line manager's shortfalls.
