    Pros

There are some good, whole hearted people there. You can get some lab experience working there. You can listen to music

    Cons

No room for advancement. Unprofessional upper management. Favoritism. Too much corporate bullying. They work you like a machine and under pay their employees. High turn over rate up to 90%. Have been reported to the labor board for unlawful mandatory overtime. I have seen 3 people stroke out due to the stress of working for Solstas Lab Partners/ Quest Diagnostics. Too much drama

    Advice to Management

Hire new management. Treat your employees like they deserve to be there, instead of them feeling like slaves or machines.

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

paycheck, dental, medical, vision insurance and stock option.

    Cons

    Very strict work environment
    Monitors your every move
Rather support belligerent customer's than loyal employees
    Very high turn over rate
Low wages compared to other companies doing similar work 11.09/hr
Monitor and track everything you do
    Micromanages you to death
    Requires mandatory overtime

    Advice to Management

Please support your employees. Customer's are important but so are employees. There can be a balance. Employees should be supported and not disciplined so harshly for every minute things.

I have been working at Quest Diagnostics (More than a year)

    Pros

I have been able to meet a few really great people who are trying to make a difference

    Cons

no offer letter was provided in writing. No goals were set, even when requested and created on my own. Salary and commission structure changed without prior notification, agreement or negotiation. Responsibilities changed dramatically in a short period of time and no longer play to my strengths or skills. Toxic environment filled with people who are too quick to say 'no' and against finding alternate options or solutions to problems, but will continue to complain about them. The majority of people will throw anyone else under the bus and push blame anywhere else without taking any responsibility for their own actions or inaction. There is no collaboration or partnerships no matter what the leaders try to tell you. It is an "old boys" club with the unfortunate goals of 'sell it and we'll figure out how to support it.' It wouldn't be so bad if they figured out how to support it. There is more broken than there is stability and more manual processes than anyone would like to admit. And since there is little to no accountability from the top down, when there are issues, it takes significantly longer to resolve because no one will speak up and share what information they have. They burn and churn people, cannot properly calculate commissions and lose the best individuals who get out when they can.

    Advice to Management

really look at the management being put into place in divisions outside of insurance or drug screens. If you really listen or read survey input, employees are screaming for help and direction and receive buzz words in return. Consider adding genuine people to leadership, more diversity, women and schools of thought. It is 2016 and it's embarrassing to be part of a company that has such outdated values and hiring practices.

I worked at Quest Diagnostics as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The pay was excellent as well as the hours.

    Cons

The management sucked. Too old wanting to be young and not leading by example but setting a bad example in management.

    Advice to Management

    Stop being passive...

I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good job for someone who has daycare issues and needs to be home during the day. Benefits were adequate. Great for a night person who doesn't like traffic and staying up all night. Shift differential for graveyard shift was a plus.

    Cons

Found out that while on graveyard shift, (8:30-5:00 am), even though your shift may end on a holiday, you will NOT get holiday pay for those hours. Your shift is fully paid for the day on which you started working. THAT was a drawback. Management for the graveyard shift was NEVER there, and the operations were run by Lead Processors - some were knowledgeable but others were not. Literacy is a HUGE problem here- seems like high school drop outs were hired and even promoted to management. The graveyard shift - don't do it if you want a life. Worst 3 years of my life. Zero chance to move into daytime hours.

    Advice to Management

Please edit your correspondence, emails and letters for correct grammar and spelling. What a poor reflection on you and the company!

I worked at Quest Diagnostics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When I started the benefits were pretty standard, and every year I stayed there they continually digressed.

    Cons

Environment was very stressful and all management cared about was to increase production so stocks could look better. Lots of politics involved with moving up and sometimes leadership can be very manipulative.

    Advice to Management

    Be nice to your employees.

    Pros

For recent grads working retail and hospitality it is a place to get lab experience. For most, the money is decent.

    Cons

Where to begin.....if you want a 9-5 type schedule, forget about it. This puts strain on not only your health, but you relationships with friends and family because you are likely on very early morning our night shift because only people who have been there for years have the day shift. There is no shift differential for that either. All locations are chronically understaffed even though management claims that they cant hire anyone else. Many of the techs have a "do as little work as possible, but enough to not get into trouble" mentality, and they will stab you in the back to make themselves look good. As such, overtime is an everyday occurrence, which at first is nice until you're burnt out and then they tell you that the overtime costs are too high and you need to cut back on it. The derm lab I was in had constant turn over due to this and the poor poor POOR management. Everyone that is still there is trying to get out other than the manager favorites. No one at the managerial level has anything more than a MT, MLT, HT, etc and they are the ones running the company and getting promoted. They play favorites with those just like them and ride the hard working degree holders like slaves. Other things to consider are the benefits. High deductible with high cost from paycheck and it covers very little. Vacation time is average, but there are only 6 days off for holidays and if they fall on the weekend, you do not get the Friday or Monday off.

My only advice to anyone applying, or on the edge about accepting a position with Quest/Dermpath Diagnostics, is that is you have any offer (and I mean ANY) take that one instead for your own sanity. The money is not worth the hassle.

    Advice to Management

There is not enough space for my advice to management, and it falls on deaf ears at Quest Diagnostics anyway.
