I worked at Quest Software full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The campus is nice, good selection of drinks, fresh fruit, etc.

    Cons

Culture does not support pay for performance. Speaking for the finance department- although there are plenty of women working in the group, they are not treated the same as men in terms of pay, promotion, and social respect.

    Pros

Improved benefits when Dell acquired Quest in 2012. Originally called Dell Software and renamed SIM (Systems Integration Management). Just got sold to Elliott Management and Francisco Partners in June of this year.

    Cons

Currently lots of change and upheaval. Old boys network exists where if you are not considered in the inner circle you are ignored. Not a supportive environment for women at all to thrive and develop in. Extremely challenging to get any career development or promotions. There's a definite sense of the Quest side vs. the Dell side and is extremely political. Sales compensation packages are extremely weak and unrealistic. Fine if you have no other choices, but I would run from this company. Since it was sold rumors are it will go back to being Quest Software.

    Advice to Management

Provide equal opportunity for both men and women. It's strange to see the sales teams so male dominant and lacking representation for women.

    Pros

Decent health benefits and health incentives
    401k matching
    HSA contribution
Standard vacation & PTO time off
    Week of Christmas off.

    Cons

Product development and support management. The missteps of product management & development have hurt what were once respectable products.
After these missteps, sales of these products never have recovered. Just a simple profit is never good enough. There are always budget cuts. Every quarter you wonder if it's your badge number to be retired.

    Advice to Management

Stop talking about cost preferred locations offshore and demoralizing the US based workforce.

I worked at Quest Software full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

An innovative company driven from the top to delight customers with great software. A sharp focus to grow into new areas that expand opportunities.

    Cons

With a great focus on growth in new areas comes lack if information. So although there were always new products/technologies, they didn't always come with great marketing materials.

    Advice to Management

Product marketing is the key to effectively communicating product value propositions. Ineffective marketing is ineffective business. Ensure quality materials.
