I worked at Questex full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

To be honest, i don't know how they've managed to bring together such amazing people! A very smart and loving group of employees. The CEO and C-Level management care and listen to what employees are asking for and openly addresses all feedback (good or constructive). This company cares about giving back to the community. Nothing is perfect but i think if you're lucky enough to land here, you've found a home.

    Cons

Can't think of anything negative ..

I worked at Questex full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Questex is a good place to work if you have a good manager. There a quite a few of them. If you get a poor manager you will not be protected from upper management. New office is pretty.

    Cons

Upper management doesn’t know how to manage. They speak about a lot of improvements they want make with company culture, but they have actually sucked all the morale out of the place. You only move up and get recognized for hard work if you blindly follow and sing the praises of the new upper management. Also upper management has very little experience running a business with events and media components together. Overall, 40 percent of the employees hold up the other 60 percent. If you break your back this is the place for you!

I have been working at Questex full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

At the mid to entry level, the people you will work with are smart, driven and genuinely good people to work with. They have passion for their work and it shows in the success of the brands.

    Cons

New upper management does not take the time to know the team members who have been there for years and years. They have been hiring a lot of people they used to work with - giving them higher titles and salaries than they should. Upper management preaches how the greatest asset is the people, but really they only care about their own people. Raises and promotions are only given if you drink the kool-aid. Rash decisions are made (like rebranding) without consulting the people who know the industry inside-out...resulting in wasting time and effort of the employees that actually do the day-to-day work.

    Pros

Great new open office format. Within certain groups, you have the opportunity to travel domestically or internationally. New CEO has a great vision for the company. Younger staff so you may form some decent friendships.

    Cons

Senior leadership is lacking. There are some very smart people in leadership, but they're not actually great at leading. Work/life balance is awful and some departments won't even let you work from home. Some people will throw you under the bus without discussing what you did wrong and how to correct it going forward. Compensation is low and they will not pay the same rate for the same roles. Someone else said it, but you're not an employee, you're an expense line item.

I worked at Questex full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Scheduling flexibility and the opportunity to work remotely are some of the few pros here

    Cons

This place is the perfect example of an employer that views its employees as line items in a budget and nothing more. Upper management simply could not care less about workers. As products, business plans, and goals dreamed up by management inevitably fail, the layoffs start stacking up with little to no warning. Anyone who chooses to work here should be watching their back. A horrific company culture of impending doom.

  10. "This place has character"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Questex full-time

    Pros

    - In the 2 years I've been here I've seen a lot of people cycle in and out. But despite seeing a lot of good friends come and go, the company has still maintained a its friendly, fun and quirky culture - the sales team is managed VERY well, and their leaders have 10+ years of industry experience, which is obviously a pretty long time in digital media - impressive editorial staff with strong content - recent changes are bringing ad operations, audience, marketing and sales all closer together - most people that work here don't take themselves too seriously but work very hard - Fierce/Questex hires smart, cool people

    Cons

    - a lot of management changes - high turnover - revenue performance issues - challenges with a clear brand
