    Lot to learn, 360 degrees exposure to trade life cycle, good entry level job, friendly and casual environment

    Cons

    Extreme favoritism, no recognition of talent, promotion based on personal likes and relations only, inconsistent adherence to HR policies when it comes to applying for internal positions

    1. Nice co-workers, who were professional, enthusiastic and responsible at workplace

    Pros

    Small company, so it runs lean. Everyone working there is of high quality. Management runs lean too, no danger of "too many chiefs, not enough indians"

    Cons

    No stock options. Not much room for vertical growth. Getting promoted almost requires someone else leaving a higher position first.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work on vision of the company. However, look inwards a bit too. Give incentive to employees to stick around. Give stock options that have been asked about for years. Create some quality of life improvements for customer service jobs, which seem to have the largest turnaround by far. Retraining new hires constantly is likely more expensive than just raising the salaries slightly for those positions.

    I have been working at Questrade full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Company is lean. A lot of the technical management are engineers themselves, and there's not many of them, so there is no danger of "too many chiefs, not enough indians". Most of the management structure is team leads reporting directly to directors.

    Cons

    The above pro is also a bit of a con, since it gives limited room for individual growth. With limited supervisory positions open, getting promoted usually requires someone else leaving the position first.

    Advice to Management

    Management is doing a great job overall. The only advice I can give is to offer stock options, one of the things that's been asked about for years and has been completely ignored. Having a personal stake in the company will motivate your engineers, especially those in senior positions who posses a lot of the proprietary knowledge about the products developed internally, and discourage them from leaving. The "cost" of replacing some of these critical individuals could be quite high.

    Pros

    Working here is a good way to get started in a career if you don't have much experience and you can learn a lot working here; Plenty of hard working and smart colleagues; Some teams are able to work from home; Main location in Toronto is very conveniently located - connected to Finch subway station; Holiday party at the end of the year is nice

    Cons

    There are little to no growth opportunities; Hard work is valued but not rewarded, i.e. low raises and slow promotions, Business first, people second; The health and dental plan is not very good compared with other companies

    Advice to Management

    Get to know your employees, protect them and value their opinions - happy employees are productive employees

    Pros

    great colleagues, good learning experience out of school

    Cons

    Starting salaries both in sales and client services have been the same for the last 5 years. Any other competitors offer a better salary, which is why turn over is incredibly high. Once someone gets experience they can easily find another job with better benefits and pay. Constantly adding new products and responsibilities without receiving further compensation. Very limited growth as well, I have never seen so many supervisors in a company, beyond that there is no growth unless you are a friend of upper management.

    Advice to Management

    Pay fairly by increasing salary, improve not reduce commission structure, create incentives for employees to stick around (better benefits, RRSP contributions etc.)

    Pros

    Projects are interesting and there are always new ones available. I was able to learn many essential skills with software tools I will use throughout my career. The people were the best part of this company with many of the always happy and encouraging
