I have been working at Quickplay full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Quickplay is like a teenager in the tech startup world, but still functions a lot like a startup. Positives are: Cutting edge technology. A ton of engagement events for employees like monthly lunches with games and cash prizes that normally include beer. Company sponsored happy hours offsite are normal, and the annual summer events/ Holiday party are a lot of fun. Quickplay invests a lot in their people and the CEO gets...

    Cons

For some of the positions at Quickplay the days can be long, and that is the startup feel. Clarity on project work is missing sometimes. Communication could be improved from the top down.

    Advice to Management

Work on communicating from the top down, so the lower level employees still understand what Quickplay is working towards and how they are contributing. Set clear expectations for projects and hold people accountable.

    I worked at Quickplay full-time

    Pros

people in general are nice. There are some bright people in the mix

    Cons

management is super detached and doesn't seem to care about the worklings

    Advice to Management

focus on creating a good product. stop peddling things we don't have to people to try to make money and running firedrills all the time. STep back and focus on making a solid product that doesn't have so many errors, or make up your mind in terms of what is the priority. This changes all the time, basically every 3 months and makes things difficult for the rest of the company.

I have been working at Quickplay full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people, on a one on one basis, esp in a social setting. Focus on charitable contributions, with thousands being given to charity organizations every year. Good potential, and good industry to be in in general as the industry as a whole is very hot. Lots of learn. start up environment so if you want to lean in and get more responsibility, you can. General flexibility in working from home or if there are family...

    Cons

Disconnect between upper management and working level, as well as between offices. People esp who have been there a while can be jaded and unhappy and it can be reflected in unpleasant business interactions (sharpness in tone, etc.). Much of the time, recommendations can be given that don't seem to be considered and no accountability when bad decisions are made. Lots of changes being reported, but doesn't seem to reflect...

    Advice to Management

Let's focus on real change that is substantive and get in touch with people on the working level. We are doing well likely because the industry as a whole is doing well, and have a real chance to be an industry leader if we focus in on what makes us competitive and go after that. Also focus on breaking down silos across functions and locations. Lots of decision making seems to occur without a ton of rationale that...

I worked at Quickplay full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

When building out the San Diego office, The people and environment were the best. Some of the best and brightest group I had the pleasure of working with.

    Cons

Reporting to corporate in Toronto, then opened a remote office in India. Some developers, technicians and analysts left and were never replaced. San Diego professional services contracted to the point where I was working 50-60 hours a week. After additional restructuring of the organization, my position was felt no longer needed and let go.

    Advice to Management

They need to get hire a couple of high level executives in the San Diego office. We were right to worry about the visibility of our work. Especially with the center of excellence, we felt we never got the visibility we deserved.

I have been working at Quickplay part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Compared to other companies I have worked for in the past, this company actually seems to care about its employees. You can definitely tell that the company is growing, but every week I am given tasks that address that growth. Pros: -Friendly co-workers -Company sponsored events such as monthly lunches & happy hours -Flexible hours -Competitive pay -100% company paid benefits -Self-paced work (for the most part)

    Cons

Since the company is growing, it leaves a lot up to the employee to figure out...it wasn't too bad on the administrative side, but it's definitely a figure it out as you go kind of job. Also, there is a lot of disconnect between each department. I'm still not sure what most people do here despite interacting with them daily.

    Advice to Management

I know this is a work-in-progress but taking a more comprehensive approach to explaining an employees job duties and the duties of other Quickplay employees might help them understand their role within the company better?

I worked at Quickplay full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I loved my time there. Wish i could stay longer, but had to move for non-work related changes. Great company with cool technology. The company is running most of the technology themselves and combined with the relative small size (I used to work at large corporations) this means you get exposed to a broad range of topics (rather than overseeing vendors within a smaller area). I liked my team a lot and the management was...

    Cons

felt like a better coordination between the different teams was needed...It was improving a lot when I left, but too often we were in a crunch because of misunderstandings or poor communication between departments. Company is growing fast and some of the managers would lack the QuickPlay specific knowledge and understanding..

    Advice to Management

I worked at Quickplay full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Coworkers at the colleague level are great -Decent benefits -Cutting edge Tech

    Cons

-Up to 40 hours a week of overtime during big projects -Poor Work/ Life Balance -Poor leadership and direction -Employee Reviews are only annual

    Advice to Management

You need to value your employees. Without them there is no Quickplay. Hire some additional staff, overtime is expensive and is burning out your employees.
