I worked at QuikTrip full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is excellent and takes great care of their employees. I always felt there was a lot of room to move up in the company. Better performance = better stores with high bonus base. I worked with more than a few people who whined a bunch about the job but it pays well (when full time) and there's a lot of flexibility with scheduling. This of course all depends on the volume of the store you're placed at. I was lucky to have excellent managers, though I worked at 40+ stores under the relief program and experienced all types of management. It's simply hit or miss like any business.

    Cons

The job is taxing. You're on your feet all day among other things. Since the company has moved towards serving food there is the added feeling of working food service. At the end of the day it's a "gas station" but it's a business that understands that happy employees make happy customers and ultimately, money.

    Advice to Management

If you've got a tenured manager that isn't performing well either fire or demote them. My mind was boggled by the performance of some managers with 15+ years with the company. They bred negative environments and poor customer service with their attitudes.

I have been working at QuikTrip part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have spent 5 years with this company as a part-time clerk I would like to share my insight with the company. This company provides a lot of room for growth and skills that can be utilized in future careers or positions with the company.

I loved many of the employees I worked with and developed a close bond with the people that are there, and QuikTrip is somewhat picky on the employees that they hire.

The pay and benefits are pretty good for the retail/convenience store industry, such as vacation pay (2 years for part-timers to obtain), bonuses, and pay. It's difficult to find a part-time job that provides incentives and pay that QuikTrip does. Staying with the company for a long period of time certainly exposes you to a lot of things that QuikTrip provides. Managers and full-timers are making great pay that are comparable to those that have a college degree job.

Pretty flexible with my schedule to accommodate school schedule, and personal time.

Being a fast paced job can certainly make time pass by throughout the shift, and you quickly develop a habit of constantly keeping yourself busy.

    Cons

    - The location of your store and managers can make or break your experience with the company. As much as this company tries to stay in uniform with expectations and duties across all stores, there are certainly differences in the way a store is handled based on managers preferences which can mess you up when you work between different stores. (Ex. some managers are more nit picky on certain things while others aren't)

    - The company tries to minimally staff their employees and push you to work harder so they can cut costs of paying so many employees.

    - You do not get breaks, if you want to eat, you can do so when the store is in good shape but may have to stop eating if things start to pick up or get busy again.

    - Working for the company can quickly burn you out, especially with the number tasks and duties that are being added since their shift towards focusing on food service with little to no compensation over stress load that is continuously being added.

    Advice to Management

    - Keep an eye out for employees that state they wish to move up, as some of those who are working very hard never seem to accomplish it, especially with managers who are biased about their employees. You notice a lot of managers have their favorites.

    - Stop treating extra relief clerks like they're expendable, I notice that when an extra clerk is scheduled at a store, managers just use them to do tasks that nobody else is comfortable doing and expect them to put up with it.

I worked at QuikTrip part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits if you're full time, Fast paced work, Er is a terrific change of pace seeing new stores everyday

    Cons

Part time pay ist enough to pay for your benefits and live, Managers ONLY care about their stores performance so they reap huge bonuses, Clerks recieve 0 incentives to go on ER except a 1.50 raise while managers get a stack bonus for every clerk of theirs on ER, You will stay a clerk if you're more useful under a managers foot(raising store score, ect) , ER will have you put up to 300 miles a week on your vehicle and wear and tear is on your dime.

    Advice to Management

The store managers are running a racket on the part timers, Company seriously needs some new blood leading the stores.

I have been working at QuikTrip (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and bonuses for the position. Has a good pay/bonus scale. Flexibility for position. Not hard to move up .

    Cons

Long hours on your feet. Not a lot of down time. Can be required to work double time if there is no coverage for the shift following yours.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to manage your staff quickly and efficiently. It makes the job a lot less stressful

I have been working at QuikTrip part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities to pick up hours.
Rich benefits package with certain incentives given to even beginning employees (secret shopper bonuses)
There are PLENTY of opportunities to advance if quiktrip is a career for you.

    Cons

Somewhat stressful job environment depending on your inclination. You do the same few tasks over and over and over and are expected to be constantly moving and doing something.
It's the corporate environment for clerks with little of the corporate environment benefit.
Your experience will largely depend on your store team.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to teach better, and be careful about how you treat the clerks. Many people end up burning out from managers not working with their schedule.

I worked at QuikTrip (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits and friendly environment

    Cons

Management. Overall QT is a great company to work for but the management drags down the morale. Although there are "growth opportunities", the openings are limited and qualified individuals are overlooked. Management positions are given to those without any prior knowledge or experience. Their turnover rate is pretty high as a result. Great company just really poor management.
