"It is not really one of the "Best places to work". The survey data is flawed"

I worked at Quinnipiac University full-time

    Pros

Decent pay. Good benefits. Tuition waivers. The holiday party is fun sometimes. There are a number of good people that work there. Work/Life Balance

    Cons

If you work with the students, you will realize that the majority of them are very entitled. A lot of supervisors at the university do not know how to lead. Once you get a salary, good luck getting a raise. The environment will eventually drive you crazy. Either figure out a way to decompress or plan your exit strategy after 5 years. You will probably not get a promotion unless you are a QU alumnus or a relative of someone who works in senior administration. It feels too small at times. For ane employer with 2000 employees and 3 campuses, there is too much gossip. Everyone will probably know your business if you tell one person. This includes HR. Don't go to HR if you have a problem. Just deal with it or try to work somewhere else.

I worked at Quinnipiac University full-time

    Pros

Great tuition benefits, 403B match & health insurance. Yearly pay increases.

    Cons

Grew too big too quickly - they don't always know what they're doing and the workload can be a little too much at times.

I worked at Quinnipiac University full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Being able to see the beautiful landscape of Sleeping Giant gives some reprieve from the child-like, unethical, and immoral behaviors of staff. Not the students...the staff! Quinnipiac, it’s senior leadership, and staff are proud of how they are able to nicely package what otherwise is considered a false reality...garbage to put it nicely.

    Cons

Certain senior staff that utilize others through manipulation, scare-tactics, and rude/“mean-girl” type behavior. If you don’t create and maintain a fake persona, then you might as well consider yourself an outsider. Be prepared to keep you lips glued to a lot of rear-ends if you want to thrive or survive. If data is collected to answer your question(s), then be prepared for skewed and manipulated information as well. Sifting through that just reveals the university’s true colors of its staff.

    Advice to Management

To the upper level, senior administration- clean house! The greatest predictor of future behavior is past behavior, so there are staff members that will never change. Regardless of how many chances you give them to change, they will just work to convince you they’ve changed, but they themselves will just do more harm. Good luck getting anyone to take action in a way that is unbiased and appropriate.
