    Pros

    Great place to learn about the pharma industry and from other people. Fun sociable environment

    Cons

    Work life balance varies. It is somewhat chaotic because the focus is on revenue and profit rather than management. For instance performance reviews are completely last minute and barely fitted in alongside deliveries.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the innovation and big scale thinking.
    Try to sort out resource planning issues.

    Pros

    -Knowledgeable and helpful colleagues
    -Work with industry-leading data assets
    -Good work-life balance
    -Good opportunities
    -Good range of benefits

    Cons

    -Managers can be distant

    Damaging redundancy process in Global Market Insights:
    -company-provided reasons for redundancy did not take responsibility for internal failures;
    -at risk employees asked to complete work during consultation and notice period;
    -consultation period extended simply to ensure completion of work by at-risk employees; --
    -employee on jury duty during consultation period treated unfairly;
    -led to very negative impact on staff morale and motivation.

    Advice to Management

    Ensure Human Resources will take this feedback on board and improve redundancy procedures in future

    Pros

    Versatile work with opportunities to work with some very large real world data sets. Relatively young team. Good career opportunities.

    Cons

    Situated in London, which is expensive and polluted city.

    Advice to Management

    Management recently started to recognise that more attention is needed in the development of its team members. This has resulted in a plan to invest more in training.

    Cons

    Bureacratic as it gets in any big firm of this size

    I worked at QuintilesIMS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Market leader. Innovative. There are internal opportunities to move internally. Range of client exposure is good. Pay is better than others on agency side.

    Cons

    Promotes heavily from within. There is an exclusive in club at the director/VP level, if you aren't in it don't expect to progress. In club is laddish and is very far from everyone's taste. A sense of inequality of opportunity pervades.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up.

    Pros

    There are some great employees that work here

    Cons

    I worked at IMS Consulting Group (now Quintiles IMS) for 5 years in their Kings Cross office. I enjoyed my first 2 years but then the culture drastically began changing for the worse. Working hours became longer, in my last year at IMS I was taking home my laptop and working until 10PM most nights. Then when it came to my review I was told I should try to take less annual leave days because this is ‘not a 9-5 job’. Pay rises and bonuses were poor and did not reflect how much work the staff put in. People are over-worked and exhausted and staff turnover was high. In the last year alone I knew of 5 staff members who left/went on leave due to work induced stress. HR support was very poor (because they’re overworked) and I found the HR leadership almost corrupt in their decision making at times. It’s a real shame because the majority of the employees here are great- it’s the leadership who are getting it wrong.

    Advice to Management

    Help your employees to feel more valued and less like 'just another number'. Actively encourage better work life balance. Offer better career development and on the job training.
