I have been working at QuintilesIMS as a contractor

    Pros

Some flexibility, okay pay, ability to change projects

    Cons

Employees are viewed as a liability rather than an asset, there is very few opportunities for advancement, they rarely promote from within

    Advice to Management

Recognize that great business are run by those who value their employees. People know if they are appreciated, and you are losing great talent because you don't want to acknowledge their hard work.

I worked at QuintilesIMS full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Challenging work and nice facilities.

    Cons

Over reliance on off shore resources; no company paid education or professional enrichment; senior management overly focused on short term gains.

    Advice to Management

It's apalling how the local technical staff has been desimated in favor of cheap offshore resources that have no knowledge of this highly technical companies subject matter to the point of jeopardizing the abilty to support critical systems and processes just to save a buck.

    Pros

Incredible talent is working at Quintiles and many of the staff are truly committed to their customers. It is senior management lack of understanding that affects moral. Truly a wealth of great staff.

    Cons

Lack of employee focus which fosters an unhealthy working environment. Decisions on staff are not based on skill set but more on whom you are friends with.

    Advice to Management

Know the effects of decisions and how changes affect the down stream process and customer delivery.

I have been working at QuintilesIMS as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Clean, flexible hours, gym on-site, employee engagement events.

    Cons

It's a total grind. Forced to work with busted laptops. Not enough desks so people are constantly trying to find places to sit and work. Huge bureaucratic delays for everything (laptop broke? Enjoy 3 weeks of downtime while we requisition another). The product is massively boring. Working with people in multiple countries means what would take an hour with a face-to-face conversation instead takes a week or more of emails, Jira comments, IM's, etc. The corresponding lack of face-to-face interaction with anyone but your supervisor is very demoralizing.

    Advice to Management

Invest in equipment. Use less outsourcing, or use it in a better way. You wouldn't need employee engagement events if the office were engaging.

    I worked at QuintilesIMS full-time

    Pros

Hard working dedicated medical technologists in the lab

    Cons

    Global locations work in silos

    Advice to Management

Hopefully with the Quest-Quintiles merger, locations actually work together as a team

I have been working at QuintilesIMS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - benefits, interesting projects to work on; some very talented hard working colleagues

    Cons

    - poor career growth opportunities for women-- it's a male dominated culture; highly political non - merit based promotions; dept funding decisions based on who likes who rather then strength of business case; Sr leaders work their people into the ground as they refuse to resource depts. correctly but still demand large quantity of deliverables; lack of innovation model; home grown tools vs systems approach to data capture/ analysis; poor track record in new service offering development and launch; no mentoring or appreciation of people

    Advice to Management

stop treating your employees like disposable work widgets; clean up dysfunctional Sr Leadership; bring in talent that can manage innovation and product development; start listening to your employees in stead of marginalizing them

    I worked at QuintilesIMS full-time

    Pros

I have worked with QUintiles for 2 years and always been misguided by my Manager and same have been faced my Colleagues as well.
When i raised concern to HR team, they have also played some politics games and make me to resign from the job.
Quintiles is not having good hike for the employees.
Managers are behaving as if they are main head of The department, things work according to them.

    Cons

FOr a fresher, it is good place to join.

    Good cafeteria.

    Cab facilities are properly tracked.

    Advice to Management

Please control the access of Managers and there should be open discussion on the floor frequently and and all the employees should be measured on same level, Managers are also employees of QUintiles as the leam working under Managers.

I worked at QuintilesIMS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large Company, lots of work to be done.
Currently no spend restrictions or oversight in place

    Cons

Dysfunctional post merger with surprisingly little to no systems in place for checks and balances. There is no clear direction from the top and future is uncertain for those legacy Quintiles employees. IMS Health is clearly driving the turnip cart and being micro managed by the CEO at every level.
Keep a close eye on Revenue and don't be blinded by the positive EBITA number.

    Advice to Management

Good luck, while there is certainly a lot of fat to be cut IMS seems to be cutting it to the bone. This is obvious by the tremendous brain drain currently taking place.
