I have been working at QuintilesIMS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall the QuintilesIMS is great place to work with lots of opportunities to explore and grow, with exception of few bad teams such as legacy CRM located in Warren NJ.

    Cons

Kiss up slap down culture, predilection for spineless hires. yelling on under links, unethical behavior. If you want psychological damage come here. people here don't trust you because they think you are competitor. Zero co-operation within teams. Product management is a disaster, they bring no ideas to table and don't appreciate any from under links. Hiring process is rigged and adaptation to Agile methodology is a joke.

    Advice to Management

There is lots of research on organizational life, reshaping and adapting to good ways can bring and attract talented individuals and boost productivity.

    Pros

    good benefits, good office support

    Cons

convoluted management hierarchy, sometimes corporate meetings were very disconnected from our individual site

    Advice to Management

It is hard to be a direct manager when you live and work in a different state than some of the people under you.

I have been working at QuintilesIMS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Sheer size of company means lots of opportunities, recent merger should yield good things for clinical trial design and execution, high profile company with high profile clients, good benefits, decent bonuses

    Cons

work/life balance is a constant challenge, project assignments are usually 'who's available' with seemingly little consideration for 'who's the best fit?', little training aside from self-guided modules, execution of new institutional processes often lacks sufficient support to ensure smooth implementation.

    Advice to Management

Management should step up efforts to obtain resources so that existing staff aren't constantly overburdened.

I have been working at QuintilesIMS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some line managers seem to truly want to help you advance in your career and want you to enjoy working at the company. Management frequently shows appreciation for workers. Work life balance is encouraged and the schedule is fairly flexible. Management is supportive of CTA's when issues arise in project teams. Training has become increasingly comprehensive. Good place to get CRO experience.

    Cons

It is very difficult to advance from the CTA role if you aren't a new graduate and often takes several years unless you have a strong network (friends) in your desired department. The department values "new talent" aka new grads over senior employees which causes a lot of disgruntled workers who inevitably leave. Very few experienced and knowledgeable coworkers. High work loads because of the high turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Continue working on retaining CTA's. Focus more on rewarding senior staff who always have the highest workloads, are more prone to burn out, and have little to no time to network for promotions. Continue expanding new hire onboarding and training.
