I have been working at QuintilesIMS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Somewhere they are committed to you development and in contrast to some other CROs you can spend your career here as internal development is taken seriously. They have done a lot of work to ensure they have market competitive salaries too. People are generally very nice and the offices are great.

    Cons

Can sometimes be long hours but not all the time - really depends on the project and how you manage it.

    Advice to Management

Don't give up the commitment to early talent, people development and career mapping.

    Pros

It is a great enviroment to work in and advancement is available. The company is growing so things change rapidly. The senior management listens to the employees and makes changes when necessary. The strategy of the company is explained regularly and the progess that is being made is rewarded. Hard work is rewarded financially as well as with perks. The work that is done if for the greater good of humanity.

    Cons

Work life balance is hard to manage becuase the company is growing so quickly. Additional the department that I am apart of needs work to be consistent with the rest of the company. This is currently being addressed with large changes to the structure of the department.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and continue working to increase employee engagement.

    Pros

there flexibility and support of staff. They let you travel to go on conferences. they don't however give appropriate direction on future career opportunities. they have good benefits. they have good customer servivce and employee solutions center.

    Cons

feel underpaid and don't feel manager supportive. they say you can work from home, but really you can't. It depends on the client. No introduction to company potential career options/paths for well-educated employees.

    Advice to Management

consider education adn experience of employees. they should meet with the employees more. give better pay. bonuses should be higher and be well-earned. there should be no limit to success.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable colleagues. Quintiles really values its employees and invest in training. Many online courses are offered. You are expected to keep up with SOPs. The perks at the office are great - onsite gym with classes, cafeteria (kind of expensive). IT is transitioning from one system to another, which should make it easier to keep track of important documents. Turnover is generally very low, so new folks can count on more experienced folks to guide them.

    Cons

We have a heavy workload, must keep up with SOPs and do take home work in the evening and sometimes weekend, but it goes witht the industry -CRO. IT is transitioning from one system to another, and the training has been just ok. They need to do some work organizing the SOPs into specific rather than broad job categories and add a search capability.

    Advice to Management

Grow the company. There should be plenty of opportunity out there with "personalized medicine" and the Human Genome Project.

"An Insight on IMS Health and the Significance of Data Integrity"

    Pros

IMS Health is the global pharmaceutical market research leader, therefore the experience gained by working for IMS can create many future opportunities. The health care benefits are no-cost coverage which is always a plus. Furthermore, positions in the Data Integrity department require very fulfilling analytical work (think puzzle solving). Since IMS is a knowledge oriented company, advancement is also knowledge oriented rather than seniority oriented.

    Cons

Nothing internal comes to mind. However, externally, the clients tend to always question the data provided. Inquiries come in about data trends that are exemplary of competitive product switching, yet still clients will be in denial and question the data. For the most part, data integrity's job is to resolve data issues or validate data trends. Second, like in all companies there are some small adjustments that can be made to increase efficiency.

    Advice to Management

Increase efficiency by increasing server resources for data extractions vital to data integrity; eliminating the one day lag on most Toad extractions and the casual crashes while extracting.

    People are rewarded for innovation
Management listens to employees and implements changes with employee feedback
Exposure to many different therapeutic areas allows an employee to learn many things quickly.

    Cons

Very difficult to navigate for new employees
Hard to learn and get used to the matrix system
Difficult to learn because of the enormous flexibility within each job function.
Do not go to Quintiles if you expect a lot of hand-holding.

    Advice to Management

    Senior management very responsive.

    Pros

Good benefits including reimbursement for gym memberships/health equipment and adoptions. Great management who genuinely care, listen, want your feedback and do not micro-manage. Opportunity to work from home a portion of the time. Excellent review process. Opportunities for professional growth and development that are encouraged by managment. Good internal system for recognizing a job well done. Management empowers employees to work independently and take responsibility for their deliverables. Depending on your manager, work hours and time off can be quite flexible.

    Cons

Lack of clear processes in some areas. Some IT systems are redundant and not efficient, adding to the workload. Lack of classroom training opportunities specific to role. Time off is much less than some companies, making it difficult to have a good work/life balance. Workload is overwhelming at times. Feel that pay is at lower end of industry standard.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work towards increasing numbers of staff to accomodate workload and prevent burn out of current employees. Consider development of a mentoring program within department to assist in career growth and development of new skills. Love the positive attitude and enthusiasm that comes from management and how they are open to feedback. Keep up the great work!

    Pros

My manager was great, she gave the tools I needed to effectively do my job. She was fair and non-judgemental. She allowed me to work in autonomy and trusted the work I did.

    Cons

You are at the mercy of the company that has hired Quintiles as its solution. Unfortunately, my contract ended prematurely and all the nurse educators were let go. They did provide a great severance package so I am luckier than most people that are unemployed at the moment.

    Advice to Management

In my opinion, the leadership at Quintiles was exemplary. I enjoyed my time there and the people I worked for.
