I have been working at QuintilesIMS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Somewhere they are committed to you development and in contrast to some other CROs you can spend your career here as internal development is taken seriously. They have done a lot of work to ensure they have market competitive salaries too. People are generally very nice and the offices are great.

    Cons

Can sometimes be long hours but not all the time - really depends on the project and how you manage it.

    Advice to Management

Don't give up the commitment to early talent, people development and career mapping.

    Pros

It may provide a good opportunity for someone who is wanting to fast track to District Mgr., Regional Trainer, or Regional Director. Within the commercialization subsidiary in which I worked, sales reps with only 2 years experience, and it was acquired with position at Quintiles were promoted to Regional Trainer and District Manager. However, I believe they make hasty hiring decisions because of client expectations, leading to poor management. Eventually, these decisions led to several Regional directors and
managers' termination for performance and/or breach of proprietary confidentiality agreements and fraud.

    Cons

Poor leadership, who made decisions that were only workable in the short term, which was one reason for high turnover. Leadership was more concerned with the appearances of our company, and less about what the realities were in the field.
Will terminate if you ask for medical leave in some cases. No women in upper management when I was employed. Management over promises potential. We were left in the dark on decisions made that would impact work.

    Advice to Management

I believe Dennis Gillings is doing a fair job. His company would be more successful and profitable with new Sales leadership. I would never refer anyone to this company because I was terminated without cause, after I presented a Physician's note for time off needed due to illness. I was pregnant.

    Pros

The best reasons to work for Quintiles is their benefits to it's employees. They are very concerned about your health and well being. They offer partially paid gym memberships, yearly health checkups, The health insurance is great and has a true fight on Cancer.

    Cons

Quintiles does not care about it's employees when it comes to work. They will save themselves from a customer before they will back you as an employee.Quintiles in Atlanta is the poster stepchild for Quintiles. I've heard that the work life is not that bad in Kansas or North Carolina and some of the other countries that Quintiles is in.

    Advice to Management

I would tell senior management to have concern about the employee and not give away everything to the customer and not get compensated.

    Cons

Working with goverment solutions were horrible, they were unorganized with a high turnover rate. Management showed favoritism, which didnt allow much advancement in other careers.

    Advice to Management

Get all new senior management who knows who to actually manage a company, and a better HR team who actually cares!!

    Pros

If you do not work in IT, Quintiles is a good company from what I heard from other employees. The benefits are nice, and the company is financially secure.

    Cons

IT only has about 300 people supporting 28,000; management expects you to perform miracles with your hands tied behind your back. Senior management is out of touch and engulfed in politics.

    Advice to Management

Stop the nepotism, promote the people who do good work and show an affinity for management, and acknowledge good work when you see it.

    Pros

Easy commute, learned invaluable lessons from individual study team.

    Cons

No management support nor professional growth development. Many direct line managers more interested in gossip rather than unbiased, balanced management. Department individuals who transfer departments often unqualified for new position and moved to be "someone else's problem" - direct manager quote. When assistance required for meeting critical study deadlines, it is rarely provided, if at all. Extreme bias in providing addiditional study support - consistently given to department individuals who have drinks with the manager.
Specific department manager and director quick to make judgements based on heresay and not with all the individuals sides provided. No balanced assessments determined, They take the path of least resistance and do not stand up for their employees. Allows employees to be verbally abused when witnessed; "it's no big deal".
    No HR support.

    Advice to Management

Train, evaluate and hold all managers and directors accountabile on managing and following company guidelines. Follow through on company "policy" of career advancement and growth preparation rather than boxing employees in jobs. Do as you say, not as what is truly going on.
