I have been working at Qumu full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I've spent my entire career in the Minneapolis tech and startup scene, working in Private Equity, Venture Cap and M&A in some of the highest profile tech spaces this city has to offer. And I can honestly say coming to Qumu was the smartest career move I have made so far.

Qumu is the first place I've worked where people genuinely seem to care about you as a person. The work-life balance is great, the environment is flexible, and people here embrace their roles and believe in the company and the product line. There is a ton of faith in the leadership including the CEO and the Board, and most of the people here would walk thru a brick wall for the company if asked to do so. The culture here is very much "I've got your back," and they practice it regularly.

The truth is, there are a high number of 10 or 20-year tech startups in the metro that push free M&Ms and "bring your dog to work day" for the sole purpose of trying to win a Best Place to Work award. Heck, I've worked for some of them. But Qumu is not that place. There aren't a ton of unique benefits or perks here, and the company has gone thru its share of rough times in the last 10 years. But this is a legitimately positive environment, and I'd rather be surrounded by good people than negative people and their dogs.

    Cons

Parking is a little steep if you can't take public transportation. I also miss the free soda and snacks that seem to be standard in Warehouse District tech firms.

    Advice to Management

Continue to add perks as the company grows. Also continue to hire good people who fit the culture. Culture is key.

Video adoption in the enterprise space is not happening at the same pace as in the consumer space but it is gaining momentum with more consumer applications being demanded by employees and driving the need.

I have been working at Qumu full-time

    Pros

HQ and field teams are filled almost exclusively with extremely intelligent, respectful, mature and experienced professionals. You won't find those qualities in most other companies in this industry. Consistent leader in high-quality, secure enterprise video platform delivery. Great client base.

    Cons

Past company restructuring and reorganizations probably impacted some of the company's recent growth.
Recent product/platform enhancements could have been delivered quicker.

    Advice to Management

Stay the course; continue trusting your people and stay close to your customers. And if possible, try avoiding any business decisions based primarily on Wall Street and stock price directives.

I have been working at Qumu full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Everyone here has a real passion for the video content management industry and in a lot of cases it's been their life's work
    - The dedication to overcoming challenging scenarios either with customers or in-house is extremely admirable. People come together and figure out ways to get it done rather than saying we can't
    - The people that work here are always willing to help no matter what

    Cons

    - Internally disorganized at times but never to the point of it affecting our quality of service to the customer

    Advice to Management

    - Continue on the path we are on with our new mindset. I think that we will be highly successful if we stick to our plan and keep chugging along.
