    Houston or Dallas is OK
Great place to start your career or pick up experience
    Strong technical development

    Cons

Long Long hours with billing at least 45 hours per week
Lateral moves between offices will slow career growth
Limited ability to move to delivery term

    Advice to Management

You need a repository for engagement history with each client as well as background info on the client's business. Consultants should be allotted time for specific training rather figuring out how to complete projects in the dark.

I worked at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Quorum truly is a meritocracy. If you work hard and authentically, you will be rewarded with new opportunities and compensation. There are positions with travel and without travel depending on your needs. Company leadership truly is involved and aware of what's going on at all levels. There are several strong leaders who are willing to invest their time mentoring younger resources. The people at Quorum are top notch.

    Cons

Sometimes the workload on projects can be challenging. Management tries to put people in the best place to succeed, but project conditions and deadlines can require long hours and learning new things quickly. If the proper support isn't available, this can be difficult. All consulting roles require a level of technical work, and this can be difficult for some.

    Advice to Management

Make sure younger resources are prepared for any roles that they're assigned to and continue to invest in people.

I worked at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time

    Pros

    -Decent pay
-Quorum hires very talented and intelligent people
    -Flexible schedule

    Cons

-NOT a consulting job. If you are a business major DO NOT work here unless you are interested in learning how to code because that is all you will be doing. Recruiters will assure you that you will not be placed in a technical position--but all the positions at Quorum are EXTREMELY technical. There is a four week training and then after that you are expected to be proficient enough in the programming languages to know how to solve issues. You will be assigned to a 'mentor' who is supposed to help you work through the issues assigned to you..but they will be drowning in work and have very limited time to help you.

-No company culture. People just show up, do their job & go home.

-No communication within the different verticals of the company. Quorum is undergoing MAJOR layoffs - 20% or more of the company- because of how the oil & gas industry is right now. However, nothing was communicated amongst the employees until 3 days ago, after teams were cut in half with no warning.

-You are required to bill 45 hours of work each week to the client. However, you also can't go over on the estimated hours to fix an issue. So, you will end up working more hours and not being able to bill them (or just over-billing the client and getting heat from your manager for it).

-Management does not care about their employees. They only care about the number of hours that you are spending on your issues. Managers will only reach out to their team when they go over on hours for an issue instead of being proactive and helping you work through issues.

-Quorum will tell the client that they can get an issue solved in X amount of hours, knowing full well that it will be impossible to do so. Then, when they go over on the budgeted hours for the issue (which happens on virtually every single issue), senior management will blame it all on 'junior resources' for not being able to meet the unrealistic estimates.

-Employees are moved around based on the need of the company, rather than the skill set of the employee. There are business majors doing development work, simply because they were low on work in their current position. When employees reach out to HR or other senior management about it they are told that there is no other option and they need to learn how to do it. Management wonders why we never meet deadlines and there are incompetent people on teams? This is precisely why.

The other reviews on here are VERY accurate. Don't accept a job here unless you know exactly what you are getting into.

    Advice to Management

-Communicate with your employees. Especially about the recent layoffs, or else all of your good employees, who actually like working at Quorum, will leave because they are scared that they will be next to get laid off.

-Get to know your employees so that when a new project opens up, you put the best people for the job on it, not just whoever has bandwidth.

-Stop lying to college students to get them to work here. Be transparent about the fact that this is a highly technical job.

-Be transparent to your employees and to your customers. Stop over promising and underestimating the number of hours it will take to complete a project/issue. BE TRANSPARENT.

-If you truly believe that Quorum is "the best place for first class people to work" then actually treat your employees like they are first class people.

I have been working at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time

    Pros

-Quorum is a fast growing company and thus provides a lot of opportunity for people willing to take advantage of it (especially if you're a more technically minded person)
-The company is making a big investment in upgrading their technology stack
-Growing in both number of clients and number of products
-Good forward vision from executive team
-A good open door policy where any level can be approached
-They treat well employees that perform and provide very competitive pay

    Cons

-A lot of turn-over at the lower ranks so we constantly having to deal with untrained new hires being put on projects
-Need to provide more up to date and relevant training to new hires during month long training program
-Going through growth growing pains (increasing amount of red-tape and management overhead)

    Advice to Management

Try to keep as much of our culture as possible as the company grows and resist the temptation to create layers upon layers of management and red-tape.

I have been working at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Quickly obtain high levels of responsibility
    2. Merit based promotions and pay raise. Overall, competitive pay
    3. Few work politics
    4. Quorum is gaining market share in the Upstream area. Already industry leader in Land and Midstream

    Cons

    1. Growing company leaves areas for improvement. On the flip side, there is no large amounts of red tape or hoops to jump through to do your own job.
    2. In 2014, Quorum was overloaded with new deals. this is tough in the short term, but great in the long term

Note: many of the reviews on here seem to be from individuals who have never had experience in the real world. If you are complaining about 50 hour weeks, you should go get a government job, and not be looking to be a consultant. Company wide, the hours average to about 9 hours a day. Good luck finding anything cushier at the Big Four.

    Advice to Management

    1. Improve recruiting to prevent the hiring of unmotivated individuals who are afraid of being committed to their job.
    2. Be more strategic with clients to ensure long-term client relationships
    3. Focus on retention of good employees
    4. Emphasize more company culture so that young employees are able to better identify with their career

    Pros

You will work with very, bright talented young people and Quorum is a well-known name that will allow you to spring board into the oil & gas industry or another consulting firm.

    Cons

The majority of what Quorum does, I would not even consider consulting. There is a high chance if you are a junior resource they will pigeon-hole you into a support or development role which will give you little to no insight into the oil & gas industry or client exposure. The only consulting exposure you get will be on the delivery side, which is still limited to the fact that Quorum focuses on their employees to know the software, not specifically the business. The issue behind this is that unless you complain constantly to move to delivery (even if you have prior experience as a Business Analyst/Consultant), they won't move you because they are understaffed. The resources that actually know enough to be an asset get hit at all sides with questions, and are overworked with limited project timelines and unrealistic expectations so they end up leaving. Upper management could care less about this because they keep making money, selling projects, and throwing college hires that know next to nothing about SDLC, oil & gas or anything related to consulting onto projects at the same "blended rate" per hour as a manager who has been doing this job for 7 years.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking at the bottom line and listen to your employees. This comment does not matter because they don't listen to advice.

    Pros

It takes a certain type of person to thrive here (comp sci and engineering types), and you can move up if you put in your 50+ a week. It's never monotonous, and you can always find work to do. But you do get to call yourself a Consultant!

    Cons

Where to start... well, the turnover is very high, probably because the pay isn't worth the sacrifice of your personal happiness. The holiday bonus is comical (it was less than my part time college job). You get weird looks for leaving anywhere near 5pm, and you get called out by your boss in front of the entire team for it. The sheer thought of a work/life balance is hilarious and naive. Also, asking for any time off is like pulling teeth, so just take sick days instead.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the numbers game: Hire 100+ new grads, lose most of them, and do it all over again next year. It's worked so far.
