I have been working at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

As a college hire I was given training in cpp and sql development, skills that have served well with subsequent employers. I enjoyed the people I worked with and learned great project planning skills. Benefits were also great.

    Cons

After working a Quorum for several years I realized that there is little chance for advancement past the senior consultant / manager level.

I worked at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This job will build your work ethic and increase your experience level and confidence three fold, in comparison with another company. You will learn so much, I think most college grads would benefit from starting at a place like this.

    Cons

Leadership is a bit distant, and the benefits are substandard. Turnover rate is a bit high, but it's relatively expected with such a challenging job.

    Advice to Management

Beef up the benefits and have more executive to employee interaction. Turnover will reduce with these changes alone.

    Pros

Good pay, upward mobility, young work environment, a lot of good experience.

    Cons

Can be impossible to get help. When on a project people will just ignore you. Company over promises so we always look real bad to the client. Quorum takes on way too many jobs, stretching everybody thin. Upper management not grown in Quorum are under qualified, creating a mess in upstream. Worst HR team ever, isn't helpful at all...

    Advice to Management

Please fix upstream. Stop selling functionality that doesn't work and making enhancements when the core product is broken. Hire an HR team that looks out for the employees.

I worked at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Lot's of exposure to the energy sector. Learned a lot and hard workers tend to move up faster. Good compensation with young high energy culture.

    Cons

Long hours, but this was expected. Inconsistent guidance from upper management. Different groups have different motives and goals, and often conflict with each other.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, especially the ones that you value the most. Don't make empty promises, and align goals for all departments.

I have been working at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time

    Pros

The company remains small with lots of work to do, so you will have ample opportunity to develop your skills and move up the ladder. Quorum is a good place to start where you will learn a lot about the oil and gas industry, develop technical skills such as SQL, and professional skills.

    Cons

The work/life balance can be hard to manage, especially if you have to travel 5 days a week for months at a time. Quorum has seen its business grow immensely, but its headcount is almost stagnant, so people are increasingly having to do more with less.

    Advice to Management

Not enough attention is made to employee retention. Quorum's business success rests entirely on the people it employs rather than its patents or software products it sells; while it sells software products to its clients who pay an annual license fee, Quorum primarily is a services firm. Without good people, Quorum will have difficulty keeping its existing clients and selling its products to new clients. Quorum has smart employees who know what they are doing, but its client list continues to grow yet the headcount does not--or only slowly. As such, Quorum is increasingly stretched too thin to maintain its services and service quality, which is not good for business. So, my advice to management is this: focus on current employee retention, and improve year-round recruiting efforts to bring in more people throughout the year (rather than such a heavy reliance on University recruiting).

    Pros

Good training, independent work, good compensation, lots of new hires, opportunities

    Cons

Abrupt travel decisions, poor work/life balance

    Advice to Management

To increase retention, it might be a good idea to stop hiring senior consultants and managers. Instead, let the best consultants move up to these positions as an incentive to stay at the company longer, improving employee value.

I worked at Quorum Business Solutions, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Quorum does a great job at gathering intelligent and motivated individuals. The people who work at the company are its strongest quality.

The work is engaging, challenging, and provides employees the ability to grow technically. The company provides opportunities (including client interaction, direct solution input, and project management) to young employees that typically are not given in the early stages at larger corporations.

    Cons

The company lacks continuity through their defined "verticals" which can make the experience at Quorum completely different for two employees starting at the same time.

Work weeks can be long depending on client demand.

    Advice to Management

Continue building on talented workforce and leading software.

Attempt to bring verticals together for both business decisions and social activities.
