I have been working at R.R. Donnelley full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Decent hrs 8-5
    - Great facility with top of the line presses
    - it is cool to see the variety of print products that are produced

    Cons

    - base salary is low
    - No 401k match
    - 1% raise annually
    - not enough PTO
    - Management sees you as a warm body just getting the job done
    - Have to solve problems you did not create/deal with pissed of clients about these problems
    - Old staff- I am just out of college and everyone in the office is 40+
    - Warehouse employees mess up if they are not given instructions a 7 year old can follow then it ends up being your fault
    - Sales team sells projects too low thus causing us to lose money
    - If production is delayed in any way shipping needs to be expedited causing us to lose money
    - Slowly declining in profits- may cause layoffs

I worked at R.R. Donnelley full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Steady paycheck. Seasonal overtime in production areas. Fulltime job with benefits.

    Cons

Industry is declining and printers are fighting over price with little differentiation. Plants are closing and workforce is being reduced. Prognosis is not good for what was once a leading company in this industry.

    Advice to Management

Keep chopping away at labor as that's the lever you are most familiar with. Figure out how to pivot the business while there is still a business left.

    Pros

    Well Known Company, decent compensation.

    Cons

Management, lack of leadership, no work life balance. No team culture being promoted here. Very Crab in a barrel mentality

    Advice to Management

Make better informed decisions, instead of putting a band-aid on a leaky pipe that will inevitably burst

    Pros

Good work environment. Love the people I work with. Good opportunities to advance.

    Cons

Benefits are extremely expensive and no matching on 401 (k)

    Advice to Management

Need to make benefits more competitive or risk having good people leave. Is also a big negative for recruiting the best talent.

I worked at R.R. Donnelley full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you are young, you are good.

    Cons

20+ years of my life given to RRD and taken away in a minute. Administrators, Supervisors, Management and Executives only care about filling their pockets. Don't think for one second that RRD cares about your future or the future of your family because they have destroyed my life and the life of my family. If you are offered a "package deal", make sure you read it very carefully and seek the advice of an attorney.. because I can assure you, you have a case.

    Advice to Management

Start seeing your employees as family, you do spend more time with the people you work than you do with the ones at home.

I worked at R.R. Donnelley full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great co-workers and work environment.
    Flexible work from home policy

    Cons

No real training; Shadowing another employee on cold-calls only teaches you so much.
Management is clearly limited by hierarchy of the organization. Management would like to implement some of the changes recommended by employees, but there is clearly no support from upper management.

Management's lack of knowledge on the 3 company split was a huge red flag telling new employees to jump ship.

    Advice to Management

If you are trying to attract and retain young talent, then do not combat good ideas and strategies with the "we've always done it this way" mentality
