I worked at R-T Specialty full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere of employees, everyone gets along
Socializing with Clients and Insurance Carriers was great
Benefits were very reasonable, had great insurance
    401k matching was great too

    Cons

Really long hours (60-90+ depending on the season/time of year)
Time and Quality of work are not necessarily appreciated by the VPs (depends on the VP)
Can be a bit of a "boys club"
Not a lot of room for upward mobility

    Advice to Management

Semi-annual Performance reviews would be helpful.

I worked at R-T Specialty full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Casual attire
Good bonus if they like you
    Free coffee and soda
Free drinks at the Christmas party
    Nothing else

    Cons

    Underpaid
    Overworked
    Poor management
Friends and family hired over qualified candidates
If your not going for a broker position be ready to be treated unfairly

    Advice to Management

Broker's seem to make their own schedule, gives lower level employees a bit of resentment. A lot of family and friends seem to be hired and fast tracked.

I have been working at R-T Specialty full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good Benefits, Great Pay, and Fridays are casual dress. Lots of little perks like free coke or letting us leave early on certain days etc.

    Cons

Biggest con is that the office is downtown. The commute is not fun and traffic and construction downtown seems constant. No tuition reimbursement and strict on start and stop times.

    Advice to Management

Try to have a more flexible work environment.

    Pros

    Great management
    Work life balance was wonderful
    Very accomodating to my needs
    Coworkers are very nice
    Good office space

    Cons

They have the worse chairs I've ever sat on. It was the first time in my life I've ever had back pain and it was severe. I'm passionate about how terrible those chairs were because they were that bad.

    Advice to Management

Keep on with the great work. They were there when I had questions and problems and let me do my work in peace. They only checked over me if I recently inquired about something which is excellent managment.

    Pros

HORRIBLE place, backstabbing and RIF (Reduction in force) all the time without real explanation.

    Cons

They tell you flex time, then you get reprimanded when you utilize the perks. Managers are unprofessional, office is ran haphazardly..

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Other department personnel were very nice

    Cons

The person I worked with was the worst! She has gone through 3 assistants in 3 years. Whatever, you do, don't go to work in this particular unit. I wasn't made aware of these issues prior to being hired; I only found out after I got there........what a disaster! If you want to get "thrown under the bus" regularly, then please do work here! This place would have been given NO STARS if that was a choice. I could only stand it about 3.5 months.

    Advice to Management

If you have a person who can't get along with their assistant(s), regardless of revenue, then maybe they shouldn't be working there........just a thought.
