Pros
I've been working at RAB for a while now and this place is a great learning and growing opportunity. The company is headed into the right direction especially with new ideas and culture to improve our drive in the market. The company is in a nice neighborhood, free healthy lunch, and the best benefit package I heard of so far. There are a lot of friendly people as well and RAB is a good place to grow into.
Cons
Because we are constantly growing, there are growing pains along the way. The facilities are currently over packed but its something to deal with until more facilities are acquired and built. Of course there should be more parking and bathrooms. you have 2 toilet stalls shared with 100 people. As for the negative reviews left listed below me, I do know which ex-employee wrote that and most of them are pretty bogus and false is because they don't know how to work together.

A Fine Innovative and Caring Company
Aug 29, 2018 - Anonymous Employee in Northvale, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have been working at RAB for many years and watched it grow from humble beginnings into the innovative, professional, mid size company that it is today. Ask almost anyone in the electrical industry about RAB and you will get an outpouring of admiration for product quality, integrity and business policies that have earned their respect. Having customers and employees that enjoy working with RAB makes it easy to work here. Salary, benefits and personnel policies are generous and fair. There are a bunch of negative reviews written in July by what looks like one person who was very unhappy (same misspelled words repeated, same vicious tone). I can assure you that these reviews do not reflect anything other than that person's opinion, probably after being terminated. The company is a wonderful place to work. Or I wouldn't be here. By the way, RAB has a truly free lunch served every day in our Northvale office.
Cons
The exceptional growth of the company has led to lots of new and exciting changes. Some initiatives have worked very well and others needed to be modified or eliminated. That has led to some dislocation as people get used to the new plans that will serve us better in the future.

Pros
During my time at RAB I have seen a few lows and many highs. Right now we have been on a 6 year high. Due to the leadership of our CEO and the management team, the company has gone through unprecedented growth. The direction and the vision set forth by our CEO has transformed RAB from a follower to a leader in the lighting industry. Aggressive product development and freedom to create are some of the perks for working at RAB. Another perk is personal satisfaction which is acknowledged through very generous bonuses. Investment in training, equipment, software and people is unparalleled in our industry. All departments work well together and it's a real pleasure to work with everyone there. Very little bureaucracy allows the managers and employees to all pull in the same direction towards one goal - Company success .
Cons
Long distance from my house, but I have been gladly doing it for a long time. Definitely worth the trip.

I used to love my job now I dread coming to this graveyard
Jul 5, 2018 - Middle Management in Northvale, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
None, they took away the only pro, free lunch
Cons
I used to love coming to work, the people were great, the management team was decent but at the very least they were decent people. The new management team is absolutely clueless. Besides having little to none industry experience, they are unwilling to learn about lighting, our company culture, or the people who make up this company. After firing all of the 'lifelong' employees, they recently laid off 10% of our office staff. Those who were not laid off are actively looking for new jobs, including supply chain which has experienced over half of the department quitting in the last 3 months. RAB rarely promotes from within, makes false promises to their employees, constantly asks them to write positive reviews for recruiting websites, and does NOT care about their employees at all. Now that lunch is gone we have all taken the equivalent of a pay cut and there really are no benefits of working at RAB vs. any other company.
Continue readingFirst, we’re sorry your recent experience at our company hasn’t been great. We can tell you care. Like you, most people who work at RAB are passionate about the business and about our customers, which we value. Without question, the biggest thing you are feeling is change. As a business in a highly competitive industry, change is constant. Recent changes are a direct response to our changing business, and as a result we’re better positioned to compete in our most important markets. Related to hiring from outside our company, we think a healthy mix of long-tenured employees, industry experts and talent from outside the lighting industry is right for us. We feel that new team members at all levels from outside our company will help in the long run, since they bring a different perspective to the business. This isn’t a new approach at our company, and we have many success stories about long-tenured employees and new outside hires at all levels doing great things at RAB. Change is always difficult, but we want you to stay. Our turnover remains very low for our industry and company size overall. While you’ll experience more change moving forward, one thing you’ll never see is RAB failing to look for new ways to do things and new markets to enter within our industry. That means at times we’ll try things that don’t work out from a business perspective. We’ve got to evolve to be as successful as we want to be, and we’re looking forward to you and your colleagues seeing positive results in the months ahead. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like - your voice and thoughts are important to us.

Working at RAB- Exceeded my expectations
Jun 3, 2020 - Product Data Specialist in Northvale, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Working at RAB, exceeded my expectations. The company provides great benefits, values employees, supports professional development. I can't thank the CEO enough for supporting us during the COVID-19 pandemic times, by protecting our jobs and making it possible for all of us to work from home. He also communicates on regular basis by emails and keeps us informed on company status. The CEO stepped up and donated PPE & Lunches to the area hospitals & healthcare providers. The CEO's reaction to the recent events, and my personal experiences with racial discrimination, it makes me feel so secure and safe to be working at RAB.
Cons
I thought of recent organizational changes as" cons", only to realize that it actually was for the betterment of the company. Now I can see things settling and a lot of improvement.

Great company and great people
Nov 24, 2020 - Sales in Northvale, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
RAB Lighting is a great company to work for if you are looking for a company that values culture. I have been working at RAB Lighting for 25+ years and all employees are treated with a sense of value and appreciation. Our CEO encourages employee feedback and involves us in the decision making. Throughout our growth period, the company continued to operate as a family owned business with both employees and customers in mind. I am extremely appreciative to continue to work for a company that cares!
