I have been working at RBC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to grow. Good environment. Very helpful managers. The opportunity to move forward within your career isn't too bad from when you begin.

    Cons

Managers ARE helpful but some are Micro managers . If you are unlucky enough to end up with a micromanager then the days will be a lot longer. Also it seems like if you are willing to suck up to management you will get further a lot quicker.

    Advice to Management

Maybe the only thing would be to cut down on the micro managers . Working for the bank and I having all the statistical objectives we have are not always realistic. Having a manager that micromanages every little thing is not helpful.

I worked at RBC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Looks good on CV
    - Best coaching process, considering call center environments otherwise tend to be hell
    - Salary is above average for field

    Cons

    - Very conservative company
    - The insurance division where I worked hired only agents; there was no upward mobility. Underwriters had been around for over a decade in their positions
    - Crappy product that only exists to bring clients to the banking side

    Advice to Management

Management can't change anything in such a large organization; why bother giving advice.

I worked at RBC as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly staff. Good working environment. Pleasant atmosphere with good pay.

    Cons

Downfall - mostly contracts. Full-time permanent jobs are hard to come by.

    Advice to Management

Once you have trained a contract worker, try considering them for additional work in the future or promote them to another department seeing as they already have the experience and are familiar with the in house software program, etc.

    I worked at RBC full-time

    Pros

    - Great work environment
    - Nice entry position and opportunity to learn more about the investment industry and financial markets
    - Management is helpful and supportive

    Cons

    - Limited opportunity to grow within the department
    - Constant call flow and repetitive work

    Advice to Management

Invest more on technology and in ways to engage with customers online to limit the overflow of incoming calls. This should minimize frustrated clients and staff.

    Cons

Salary not competitive and year end bonus was minimal.

    Advice to Management

Would be nice to have more coaching and support to promote women as financial advisor.

I worked at RBC part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

management staff is extremely friendly and encourages you to do your best. they offer on the job training and will be patient with you as you learn.

    Cons

14 an hour is not much to live on and the constant reviews of performance can get annoying especially when they ask you to do things like smile more and use customer names multiple times per transaction.

    Advice to Management

management was always great, they need to meet the standards of their own bosses so I have no complaints for them.
