    I worked at RBC full-time

    Pros

A small shop so you get pulled in for different opportunities. The people are very big on keeping their word.

    Cons

The culture between technology and business is very poor. Many business folk have development experience which gives them the impression they should be directing technology decisions. It's a very politics heavy culture. Lastly many decision making people are close minded and insist on doing things their way.

The most discouraging thing said to me was said repeatedly: "At the end of the day they are the business and they are paying for it so we need to do what they say"

    Advice to Management

Understand what a technology shop is; having a "fun" room and hackathons does not makd it a technology company. Technology should be driven by technology people and business needs to view technology as equal partners and not a service center.
