    Pros

Decent benefits and easy commute. Coworkers were mostly friendly.

    Cons

Only work here if you want no direction or conflicting directions from three different departments who don't talk to each other. Hawks a family friendly, work-life balance culture which is a lie. I was harassed when I asked for short-term leave, a benefit I paid for with my weekly salary, and which was protected under the AMA. I was wrongfully terminated due to a health issue, fought it, and won the case.

    Advice to Management

Learn your job before becoming a manager. Don't nitpick. Don't play favorites or if you do, don't make it so obvious. Train your employees properly and don't hover over them. Don't embarrass them in front of everyone for what they're wearing, or cut them off mid-sentence when speaking or presenting. Don't expect perfect work on the first try if there is absolutely no guidance given whatsoever. Don't hawk your work-life balance and friendly leave policies if you're going to just drive people out if they use them.

    Pros

The advantages to the position were the flexibility and great people to work with. I was able to work from home if necessary.

    Cons

There was a tremendous amount of work to do, constant change and reorganization causing a great amount of stress. Those good at their job were given more work to compensate for others who were lacking. It was also very difficult to get a raise.

    Advice to Management

Value and recognize your administrative support. They are the glue that keeps the company together.

I worked at RBS Citizens full-time

    Pros

Smaller institution; you get to know most top management.

    Cons

Training and technology definitely NOT the best.

    Advice to Management

Management doesn't communicate well with staff/lower division. They express need to improve and deliver on training and technology however they fall short in providing and executing this need. Retail branch and business collegues don't receive the assistance needed in job functions.

    Pros

Diverse, friendly colleagues. Depending on your role, can have exposure to senior management. Changes in bank might proivde opportunities to be promoted quicker and have more responsibility.

    Cons

Location. A lot of uncertainty from downsizing and becoming more efficient. A lot of pressure from going public. Sometimes work life balance does not exist. Large turnover of employees.

    Advice to Management

Don't be so cheap with employees in terms of compensation. Make them feel valued and incentivize them to work hard. Invest more in terms of training.

I have been working at RBS Citizens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Always has opportunities to advance. Offers lots of overtime to people who need to earn extra money.

    Cons

Focuses to much on selling. The systems you have to work with are on the slow end.

    Advice to Management

If your truly worried about customer service then stop pushing the need for sales. Their are customers who needs actual help rather than being sold another form of account.

    Pros

The colleagues in the branches are wonderful.

    Cons

Daily ( up to 3 times daily ) conference calls. Micro managing of all aspects of the job. People are not robots, and our long term clients even recognized the hard sales approach forced upon us and them.

    Advice to Management

Snap back to reality. Colleagues are not robots and should not force products on their clients that they don't need. Incentive program is not good.
