    Pros

The environment was initially similar to a new business - originally there was a great deal of enthusiasm, as well as high aspirations to make a mark as a business. Citizens Bank failed to provide the level of support that we needed to succeed in this business, and help us grow our customer base.

    Cons

Over time, there was an increase in the level of interference/ oversight, first by Citizens, then by RBS UK. Micromanagement took over. In addition, the current economic environment significantly increased the challenges that the business was forced to deal with, such as increasingly tight regulatory control over the credit card business.

    Advice to Management

A greater level of proactive marketing is required to get to the competitive position you intended to achieve, as well as a more competitive product offering. The brand recognition marketing which was promised never materialized.

    Pros

Some of the best reason to work for RBS are schedule flexibility, time off, relatively fair pay, the feeling that work stays at work... there is no need to bring work home, nor do the stresses of work follow one home.

    Cons

Some of the downsides of working at RBS are the high turnover rate, the salary does not increase much from ones starting wages. No real opportunity for advancement from the customer service level. Seems as if goals are set up for one to fail, no job security as people are constantly being fired.

    Advice to Management

Please focus on employee happiness, their happiness is related directly to the level of service the customers will receive. In these uncertain economic times simple reassurance can go a long way.
