    Pros

Little micromanagement and lots of potential for promotion. The most holiday days and benifits of any company I know.

    Cons

The pay is pretty bad comparably to the market and it sometimes feel a bit 'public sector like', lots of hoops to jump through and management not wanting to make decisions.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay, make the company a little more corporate and you will retain the top level talent.

Lower management looks at UX for guidance in design.

    Cons

Upper management does little to encourage research.

    Advice to Management

Start using more UX trained individuals as product managers and conduct more research.

    Pros

its a big company so it's got all the resource most big companies do. onsite events, charity work opportunities, holiday parties.
the success determinator of your career in the company is solely depends on the team and the leadership the team follows. Some are good, some are stale.

    Cons

lots of organization changes, higher level management make all the decisions without talking to current employees. no transparency.
people get let go right before the holidays. I mean - really?

    Advice to Management

from all the employees I talked to that have been working there for years, they all told me that its not what it used to be. used to be a great place to work. not any more.
Please fix that - and please be more transparency and share the direction the company is going with your employees.

    Pros

Good People to work with, flexible schedule, and the company has a noble mission.

    Cons

Management is a mixed bag. Frequent turnover, infighting, and questionable logic applied to strategy from the director level on up has led to some inconsistent performance over the past 5 years.

Upward mobility in the company is non existent.

    Advice to Management

Get serious about the shift from being a print company to a digital services company. It goes beyond just making products that have a digital footprint or operating them as software as a service. They have to be good, and the supporting functions of your business need to be more tech savvy as well. It requires finding the right people with the right skill sets to meet the demand of the current market, and using folks who are entrenched with a mindset from the past 20 years of a business model that is dying isn't working.
