I have been working at RELX Group (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good corporate structure and benefits. From a RELX level, you feel there is a true desire to invest in you for future growth. Missions, policies, and core values are some of the best in the industry- not just on paper, but in practice.

    Cons

Some individuals divisions within the RELX umbrella are run contradictory to the RELX values. When asked about open positions, I always ask "what division" before I encourage them to apply.

    Advice to Management

Police adherence to the great values you have developed within all divisions. Environments are easily changed to negative, but very hard to turn back positive- Don't let those values slip away.

I worked at RELX Group as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Bosses were great. Thorough training/friendly trainers. Room for growth if you're a full-time employee. Easy to change positions within the company.

    Cons

There's no actual editing to be done--it's formatting and checking references. Took a long time to become a full-time employee instead of a temp.

    Cons

Frequent re-shuffles in job roles; whenever there is upper management level changes, lot of changes trickle down and that leaves uncertain work environment.

    Advice to Management

Do not make changes so frequently that would bring down morale in the employees.

    Pros

Decently run media company that looks after its employees well (particularly the senior ones). It continues to perform well financially despite not being able to keep its customers happy.

    Cons

The corporate office is very removed from the rest of the business. Constant reorganisations across the businesses and not a lot of communication from head office about what's going on means employees are often on the dark. Not really doing anything creative or innovative - it's a pretty conservative company. They've had a long decade of cost cutting. Not a lot of of opportunity for personal growth at head office. You need to go into one of the businesses.
