I worked at RESULTS Education Fund full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

This wonderful medium sized organization makes a huge difference in the lives of countless people through both domestic and international advocacy work on helping reduce poverty and allowing access to education and health.

    Cons

Like any non-profit, the work is passion-driven and the budgets are tight. You have to be committed to going the extra miles often without much support or compensation.

    Advice to Management

The organization fills such a void in the international development field. I think program staff should be able to mainly focus on programs and leave the development, fundraising and grant reporting work to a development team.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at RESULTS Education Fund full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The mission. The health benefits. HR, Operations or Development team are stable.

    Cons

The management promotes a toxic workplace culture where layoffs are frequent and program staff are never sure of their position. If you are looking for a position where you will be directly working on advocacy, programming, or any other project specific work, there is no job security at RESULTS. Also, there's a history of chronic sexual harassment where staff are not investigated (and are promoted) after repeat accusations.

    Advice to Management

Stop using lay offs to solve mismanagement. Treat your employees better. And practice what you preach in terms of inclusivity and anti-harassment in the workplace.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at RESULTS Education Fund full-time

    Pros

    - Passionate coworkers and volunteers - Good supervision and feedback structures - Lots of opportunities to grow - Wonderful ED, HR, management team - Good benefits/insurance - Mostly warm, friendly office culture

    Cons

Usual challenges of a non-profit - not enough staff or funding to do everything. Teams can be siloed but they are making an effort to change that.

    Advice to Management

    Keep being great!

I have been working at RESULTS Education Fund

    Pros

Co-workers are all very dedicated and really want to work towards the greater good. Office environment is pleasant.

    Cons

There is much discord between the individual teams, the unified mission is often lost. The management seems to purposefully underpay you as a junior staff while they make much more. There is little room for growth. For an international org, very few people have language skills.

    Advice to Management

Value your junior level staff, pay them an appropriate salary, don't try to cheat them out of paying them appropriately.
