I have been working at RGIS part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pays more than most Part-times and offers almost immediate advancement. Easy to learn and very simple job.

    Cons

Can get demoted based on counting skill. Scheduling is often random hours due to most inventories being conducted during times when stores are closed.

I worked at RGIS (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worked over for one summer. Easy job: just scan and count items. Team environment was not bad

    Cons

Standing up for long hours and the worst hours. Transportation to stores helps.

I have been working at RGIS part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Easy work

Decent pay (relatively. $12/hr starting in RI/Eastern CT area)

    Easy to get hired

Great boss and management in my area (YMMV)

    Cons

Hours are crazy (late at night, early mornings -- getting up at 4am or earlier sometimes.) Sometimes both on the same day.

    Inconsistent number of hours.

It's easy to get hired, which also means you'll be working with some bottom-of-the-barrel people

Excellent software development culture. I felt like the team was focused on writing quality code and had proper QA. Really relaxed environment with flexible hours. I enjoyed working with my peers and management.

    Cons

Pay rate is lower than other similar positions, but did receive raise/bonus in the year I was there.

    Pros

They were great about working around my school schedule.
The job was relatively simple and easy to learn.

    Advice to Management

Put employees in positions where they can do most good.

I have been working at RGIS part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Flexible Schedule. It's not a big deal if they put you on the schedule but you can't make it as long as you let someone (the regional manager & your team lead) know. The schedule is usually sent two weeks in advance with a two week block on it. Also, you can let them know if you're available last minute to pick up more events & if they have an opening (which they usually do), you can get more hours.
    - It's not rocket science, just counting inventory so if you can count and point a laser you can do this job.
    - Different store everyday, sometimes twice a day.
    - Very clear target goals & what your pay will be (based on quarterly amounts). Easy to go up & down the pay scale. The target goal to keep you at your current rank is on the machine & bigger store events will have the additional rank numbers posted somewhere so you can gauge how well or bad you're doing.
    - Company provided transportation when driving out of your "home" area. You don't have to take the transportation and you're not paid for the first 60 mins there & back (unless you're the driver) but it's nice, especially if the event is over an hour away and there are tolls. Also, the travel pay time is minimum wage no matter your ranking.
    - Mainly friendly folks. From the regional manager down, people are generally nice and will answer your questions. But like all jobs there are sour pusses who wouldn't be happy if Santa gave them a million dollars tax free. I just ignore the grumblers and keep on counting.
    - Self driven promotion. You can promote pretty easily if you want and you can also step aside if you choose. There are tons of options with this company, just depends on what you want. They really like to promote from within.

    Cons

    - Depending on your availability you might get stores back to back. So you might start one store at 9 pm, finish with it at 3 am and have to drive to your next store at 4 am.
    - No set start or stop times. Each store generally starts at a similar time (like 7 am or 9 pm) but no guarantee, some start later while others start earlier. Also, each store ends when the counting is done. If there are tons of people you finish quick but if folks no-show or are slow it might make for a long night/day.
    - Breaks are inconsistent. The general rule is 10 minute break at some point if it looks like the store event will take 6-8 hours & 30 minute break if longer than 8 hours but that doesn't always happen or more breaks happen than needed.
    - Communication doesn't seem to be anyone's strong suit. Not sure why but the one thing that's consistant about this company is they're not the best on communicating information. People are pretty friendly but they don't really know how to talk to each other. I've witnessed some of the dumbest arguments simply because people talked past each other instead of to each other.
    - Always on your feet. This is not a desk job so invest in good shoes because you will spend the whole time on your feet & sometimes on your knees.
    - High turnover type of job. People come & go quickly in this job because it's the type of job that either demands too much of your time or doesn't give you enough hours.
    - Like so many jobs of today the pay is anemic & the health benefits are less than ideal. I've seen McDonalds offer a better package but it's the market/industry, not the company just being cheap. (The pay scale for this region starts at $9.50/hr.)

    Advice to Management

    - Drivers should be able to use the company credit card for tolls if driving a rental instead of coming out of pocket & later being reimbursed.
    - If they're out there you should provide a video on effective communication for those is "managerial" positions.

I worked at RGIS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible with scheduling around other jobs I worked two others when I picked up this one. Great potential for moving up to managing store counts.

    Cons

Somewhat random work hours, some extra early others don't start till late and run overnight can be a bit difficult to adjust sleeping cycle to work schedule

    Advice to Management

Make sure people are completely informed during interviews about timing of work scheduling and assure that interview candidates know about easy Carter building potential
