    I worked at RGIS part-time

    Pros

I was hired on the spot.

    Cons

Management: Perhaps it was just the local team but there were some serious problems with management.

    1. Our Manager actually bragged that he may have killed a man by leaving toxic drugs on a radiator for him to find. We did not ask him about this, nor did he have any reason to say this. It was pretty terrifying.

    2. That same manager's philosophy was basically "Cheat, but don't let me catch you cheating." When counting gift cards and other small items it was more important to estimate and get done fast than to give an accurate inventory, which was why RGIS was hired.

    3. RGIS had, very understandably, been losing ground to their competing inventory company in our region.

    4. This manager would smoke in the company vehicles and threaten that if anyone reported him he would make their lives hell.

The takeaway from this, you may ask? This Manager, last i heard was promoted.

    Advancement

    1. Advancement is based on speed alone and some items are harder to count than others. If a manager likes you they can put you in the easy locations where you will get high numbers and promotions. If they hate you they will stick you on slow items that guarantee you will not make your numbers that day.

    2. They can use your numbers as excuse to cut your hours, after they made sure to make your numbers terrible.

    Work Life Balance:

There is no work life balance. You will sleep maybe 4 hours a night if you are lucky, Ride in a van across the state several hours away, come home and then repeat the next day.

    Co-Workers:

Because getting low numbers on an inventory is career suicide, if a hard inventory comes up the employees with high numbers simply don't show up for work. Usually as a no call no show. This will make the inventory take even longer and ruin your numbers even harder.

It is very rare that RGIS will fire anyone, because they struggle to keep employees.

    Working conditions:

Your typical day at RGIS involves barely sleeping and then getting into a van crammed over legal capacity, full of sweaty people who don't have enough time to sleep, let alone bathe. To go to an inventory where if you are lucky the other members of the team will bother to show up.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the speed ranking system and promote employees who actually show up to work and do their jobs. Ranking employees by speed encourages them to cheat which, when caught, makes you look bad.

I have been working at RGIS part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pays more than most Part-times and offers almost immediate advancement. Easy to learn and very simple job.

    Cons

Can get demoted based on counting skill. Scheduling is often random hours due to most inventories being conducted during times when stores are closed.

Work at your own pace. Flexible hours. No supervisor micromanaging you.

I worked at RGIS part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Straight forward. As long as you do your job, you'll be left alone for the most part.

    Cons

Work conditions aren't the best, you are going to be working in the backroom of stores a lot of the time and they aren't the best places to be. Yes the work isn't the greatest, but it's fairly easy. The hours are bad if you basically say you are available anytime.

    Pros

Can't really think of anything good to say. You need to be lightening fast on 10-key or you won't last.

    Cons

First hour of travel is not paid. Traveled to one job for 40 minutes and worked 2 1/2 hours. Hours bad: You might start at 9 pm and finish at 4 am. No guarantee of hours each week. Supervisors demand 1,100 clothing scans per hour in large department stores. Difficult goal if you are not experienced.

    Advice to Management

Supervisors should not micro-management employees. Company is very cheap and saves every penny
