I worked at RGP for less than a year

    Pros

You’ll meet a lot of great people working as RGP consultants from a variety of industries. The RVP’s are also generally decent people but 10 steps removed from how their offices actually operate.

    Cons

It’s a total sham - there is very little work because the sales force has no clue on how to sell, no recourse for you as a consultant when customers cancel their engagements early, RGP frequently asks you to work at reduced rates if they do assign you on an engagement since they are chasing tier D business and have to compete with the other bottom feeding consulting firms such as Addeco and Robert Half, and you are fed a constant stream of lies to keep you in their web as an unpaid consultant sitting on the bench.

I have been working at RGP for less than a year

    Pros

Good place to get contract work if your Client Manager is sharp and motivated to get you working. Not particularly process oriented Nice people personally

    Cons

Uneven earnings potential Not particularly innovative with consultants Some client managers are lazy

    Advice to Management

Enforce some more stringent performance standards with middle management. I think if there was more time spent really understanding the client's ongoing needs rather than just "shopping talent" around, I think they would improve their business results and get consultants more engaged overall.

    I worked at RGP

    Pros

Great pay, great clients, outstanding consultants

    Cons

Management has a really bad culture and it starts at the top. Management is extremely clich-y and backstabbing, and thinks nothing of lying to their employees and their clients.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your entrenched management and start over. Get a vision for your company other than being an expensive version of Robert Half.

    I worked at RGP

    Pros

Good gig if you only want part time work and can handle a lot of benchtime sitting around waiting for your next job.

    Cons

Sporadic work. Boring assignments. Assignments typically much shorter than originally contracted for. Recruiters and Client Service Directors give you constant lip service about upcoming opportunities they are working on.

    Advice to Management

Come up with some form of benchtime compensation plan for up to 2 months.
