I have been working at RGP full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Variety of projects at good companies. Great work-life balance, most projects are 40 hrs per week. Really good for someone who doesn't need to rely on full time income.

    Cons

Great if you are a self starter and independent - the client service directors who place you in the jobs rarely check in with you unless there is a problem. There is favoritism, you are more likely to be placed if you are in good with the client service directors. Not much opportunity for advancement. Often longer periods of time between projects than you'd like.

I have been working at RGP for more than 3 years

    Pros

Blue chip clients, good hourly rate, work life balance, interesting colleagues

    Cons

RGP charges higher hourly rates than other service providers such as RHI and on the other end Big 4 has been cutting rates to compete in the more crowded middle/hybrid consultant/interim roles. The result is longer time on the bench for consultants which is unpaid. Scoping meetings with clients are not paid. No visibility into what in the pipleline - Client Service Managers are perceived to play favourites

    Advice to Management

Figure which space you want to compete. Create a 'blue ocean' space to stand out (that's your job to figure it out). More communication and transparency over the business plan and client works in the pipleline.

I have been working at RGP

    Pros

Pros/Cons can depend somewhat on the office you work with. My local office has great people. Offers great work/life balance and good compensation package including benefits. (Benefits do continue for awhile when you are on the bench.)

    Cons

Risk of being on the bench longer than you want. Economy downturn has reduced the amount of projects available dramatically.

    Advice to Management

Home office upper mgt should come out to branches more and meet with consultants.

I have been working at RGP

    Pros

    Work Life Balance, Limited Travel,

    Cons

Cost structure (hourly rate) has benefits (more work = more pay) and drawbacks

    Advice to Management

Consider how to expand into other merging areas (SCM, Lean SIx Sigma) to compete with Accenture (given purchase of George Group and HB Maynard).

    Pros

Great projects that enhance one's experiences and allow for exposure to various industries Good compensation when engaged on a revenue producing project Work life balance is acceptable
