    Pros

If you're a Loan Agent or on a Loan Agent's team, it's great. That is all that the company focuses on, and I'm sure you can talk them into giving you a boatload of money since it is the managers who have no knowledge in compensation practices who determine the pay rates.

    Cons

If you are on the bank or internal support side, it is horrible. The departments run as lean as they can to support the branches and Loan Agents, and it just doesn't work. Everyone is stressed out, and no one feels appreciated. The structure of the company is funky, and it really just doesn't make sense.

Plus, the benefits package is unacceptable. No employer 401k match, no employee assistance program, nothing beyond basic health insurance.

All in all, it doesn't feel like they are even trying to take care of you.

    Advice to Management

If you are down the road trying to become a public company, you need to do some research and structure and staff yourselves like a public company. Coming from a public company to RPM, nothing made sense, and I'm not hopeful for the employees going forward. They're stressed and they hate it.

I worked at RPM Mortgage full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free bagels every Monday morning and beautiful reception area at home office.

    Cons

Favoritism, unfair treatment, poor upper management and distracting open work environment with no privacy. Also, low pay and unattractive benefits package. Company offers no basic life insurance coverage for their employees.

I worked at RPM Mortgage full-time

    Pros

Loan officer tools and deal desk

    Cons

The company lacks credibility with new hires in the sales side. Tell you what you want to hear and make promises they do not keep.

    Advice to Management

A little honesty and integrity would be a trait worth developing when it comes to hiring people. The hire and then fail to deliver on most aspects that people make life altering decisions to join the company.
Do not trust what they tell you!

    Pros

Time off is easy to get and a laid back atmosphere

    Cons

They do not give raises and promotions are hard to come by.

    Advice to Management

Start promoting from within and get more reviews with at least a cost of living raise.

I have been working at RPM Mortgage full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Company does everything first class

    Cons

Company leadership lives in a bubble of exclusivity. Focus is entirely on the "Luxury Home Buyer" The idea of huge loan amounts is alluring but what about the common people just trying to buy a home to raise their family? There appears to be zero interest in anything but the super jumbo market.

    Advice to Management

Come down a couple of steps from your lofty ladder and take a look at the real world.

I worked at RPM Mortgage full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Truly great senior leadership, transparent and collaborative environment. Personable and sincere corporate culture that begins with company's owners.

    Cons

Could see a long term path here except policies around two benefits specifically - no 401k match & PTO policy that's about half of the industry standard. These two factors send a strong message that this place is great to date, but not to marry.

    Advice to Management

Great management in general, I hated to walk away, but lack of 401k and amount of PTO weren't acceptable.

Modern/local standards around PTO need to be researched and implemented. If not implemented, the grave disparity needs to be explained.

    Unprofessional work environment

I worked at RPM Mortgage full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good rates, great product selection, gets loans done fast and on-time.

    Cons

You basically hang your license there and you're on your own. No culture or leadership. Marketing support is terrible and doesn't have marketing degrees. They typically acquire already existing mortgage brokers and change the name. That's about all the interaction you get with the company other than a once per year manager's meeting, but if you want to be out on an island left alone this is the place.

    Advice to Management

Revamp marketing department with more qualified people and work on developing culture like a mortgage bank rather than a real estate firm where you just hang your license. Quit referring to Loan Officers as agents would be a good start.

    Pros

Spend a lot of money on their computer systems, so typically very efficient once the bugs are worked out.

    Cons

I think they value their staff more than their sales force. Not such a good idea. Need more benefits for sales people.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your very hard-working sales people more. Spend less energy and less money on having and and boasting about the "finer" things at the corporate office and more time contributing to the health and wellness of your sales people. Spend more time listening to them.

I worked at RPM Mortgage full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people, networked well with other lenders, believe in sustainability (paperless), evolving to meet demands

    Cons

They often furlough multiple sections of their departments at a time. They can call you back to work for them but if you want stability, it might prove challenging depending.

    Advice to Management

    Moderation in all things
