I have been working at RPS 205 full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

family work environment. Promotes thinking outside of the box. Great benefits. Much internal growth. Education is a great way to shape the future.

    Cons

I believe that any organization's strengths depend on the energy and enthusiasm of its employees. Often people get involved in education for the wrong reasons. Luckily, Rockford has great educators and enthusiastic staff.

    Advice to Management

Management continues to seek out innovative ways to recruit new staff into Rockford Schools. Keep up the good work.

I worked at RPS 205 part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Staying in the field of Education where I have over 29+ years of experience is definitely a positive . I love teaching elementary children because they live to learn

    Cons

I have taken myself out of the Middle School range because of disruptive and dangerous behavior on the part of,unfortunately, a majority of this age group in the Rockford Schools. There is very little support on the Admin. Side also.

    Advice to Management

Make a plan that enforces respect among the students for all their teachers, including Substitute staff. Have a no tolerance for disruptive behavior in the classroom installed AND adhered to be all Administrative staff

    Advice to Management

It would be nice if they would learn how to treat the paras and they would learn that we matter too.

    Pros

    Great kids and great people!

    Cons

I felt there were too many assessments for preschool children and expectations were too high!

    Advice to Management

Talk with the teachers about assessments and testing; the kids are getting burnt out too early!

    Pros

-Couple hours a day during school hours! Great when you have children in school!
-Pretty easy to get time off when needed

    Cons

    -Not much room for advancement
    -Pay is just minium wage
-Work with some pretty gross food (makes you want to make lunch for your children at home!)

    Advice to Management

I don't really have any advice. School lunches are pretty gross when I worked there. The district seems to be doing better at making better lunches, but it's a work in progress. Takes lots of money to serve better food! AND the lunch prices for students are horrid expensive in my opinion!
