    Pros

Solid business that is number one in its field, that offers stability, plenty of career opportunities and a chance to challenge and develop yourself.

    Cons

Not many to mention. As a big business it can lack agility and some silo mentality but more positives than negatives.

    Advice to Management

I worked at RS Components full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Solid, good company to work for but.......

    Cons

very 'clicky'. I was made redundant after 14 years service as the manager at the time prefered keeping his mates employed than myself. This basically all boiled down to cricket, unfortunately for me I wasn't a cricket fan. I did get a good redundancy payment and my pension looks like it is doing quite well though.

    Advice to Management

Higher Management need to know more of what lower Management are up to

    - Supportive managers
    - Stress free environment (although it can change depending your position & department)
    - Easy to find parking space
    - Possibility of evolving or changing position quite easily

    Cons

    - The team spirit is hard to maintain in a company of that size
    - Roles are very specific and not all are interesting
    - Slow process

    Advice to Management

More challenges and a faster process would make a lot of positions more interesting

    Pros

A real feeling of change and energy starting to build and deliver results. Collaboration across functions is beginning to happen. A lot of committed employees.

I worked at RS Components full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

High salary for industry, even in digital London office, where jobs are very competitive.
The standard of what RS do is very low, so you can turn up and work 9-5 hours pretty easily without doing too much work. This is particularly the case in the Corby office.
Most people are pretty nice in the company as they expect little change so don't get too fussed about doing an excellent job.

    Cons

Regressive management not keen to tackle the problem of a senior manager who makes inappropriate comments as the managers are wimps who do not like conflict. Understandable that a lot of the digital team leave after a few months.
HR are non-existent who only ever step in when someone is being fired. Most people joining the London office are not told where to send their P45s when they join, so they end up asking up to 7 different people in Finance who eventually tell them the answer. What a waste.
Culture and digital in particular has become highly politicised. Makes it next to impossible to get digital projects off the ground smoothly.
London digital team very talented, but they are carrying a lot of the business. PPC in particular, is a very heavy traffic source for the company which is dangerous considering the volatility of the Google algorithm.
I was fired for complaining about one of my colleagues. My wimpish boss totally denied the behaviour and chose to fire me instead of dealing with the sexism in the office. What a joke!

    Advice to Management

Hire more diversely and stop promoting so many people internally in the company. It lessens the standard across the company.
