I have been working at RSM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - upper management is very open to lower levels, great experience working with partners
    - with middle market clients, lower level staff get to work on wide range of areas
    - very flexible with work schedule, and busy seasons are not near the peak hours of other firms.

    Cons

    - with middle market clients, exposure to complex and exciting clients is limited
    - depending on what your desired career plan (exit) is, brand name does not hold same weight as big 4 to many.

    Advice to Management

Continue to provide flexibility with work opportunities and areas of focus, it is one of the best ways to retain talented employees

one of the worst thing that management changes its direction and goals every 2nd year...from RSM McGladrey to McGladrey LLP and agin back to RSM McGladrey.

expect long hours and no life

    Pros

    Interesting work, good client experience

    Cons

Little to no opportunity for advancement. Almost no female partners. Male dominated.

    Advice to Management

Lot of upper management politics which meant very little to no potential for promotion.

    Pros

Good starting pay relative to industry

    Cons

Poor culture, cutting costs, inefficient division of labor between departments

    Advice to Management

FS does much more work than everyone else, gets paid the same, and shows no incentive to work hard (everyone receives same rating)

I worked at RSM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Depending on the group the environment is different. Used to be an open door policy place, not much longer. The good thing was that you were getting training specific to the industry. Decent benefits.

    Cons

For the past three years the environment changed to the worst. As more & more big 4 top management was hired, the place became colder & not as friendly. Can't say for the firm in general, but definitely New York office. Staff people were praised much more than managers & senior managers.
