I have been working at RSM Tenon full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

The experience of working for a non-big 4 accounting firm is much more varied and gives you a good insight into all areas of a business.

    Cons

The hours can be pretty bad and the salary, whilst almost competitive with other accounting firms of a similar size, is nothing compared to what you could be earning in industry.

I have been working at RSM Tenon full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

The company is flexible for work hours, providing trainees with a helpful time in lieu system for overtime. This helps for getting extra time off for study leave. Very diverse client base which gives a trainee a lot of exposure to different business.

    Cons

Lack of international clients in the Scotland area. No benefits as a trainee (pension etc..) Does not operate as one company across the UK. Many differences between office; AT THE MOMENT. New CEO Chris Merry is trying to change this.

    Advice to Management

Do more to keep the young talent you have because they are all thinking of leaving !

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at RSM Tenon

    Pros

    - Good development of technical skills, - Good opportunities to develop specialist skills - Very good communications from Board

    Cons

    - Very poor remuneration packages - low salaries and few benefits - Poor strategic vision: too short-termist - Lack of opportunities to progress and move up the ladder: not meritocratic enough - Slow to respond to changing markets - too reactive rather than proactive

    Advice to Management

Strategic vision needs to be more coherent, ambitious and focusing on the long-term. Remuneration packages are far too uncompetitive to attract the best employees. Investment in training and staff improvement needs to be better to improve skills and profitability.
