I worked at RTI Biologics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Okay pay for entry level
Experience looks good on the resume
    Plenty of OT available

    Cons

Advancing within the company isnt likely and crosstraining isn't encouraged.
There is a negative culture (encouraged by middle management) to fight between shifts.

    Advice to Management

Use errors as an opportunity to educate. Spend less time encouraging witch hunts and more time on attracting, rewarding and developing good employees who will want to stay and grow within the company.

    Pros

The company is great, benefits were awesome.

    Cons

The department I worked in was laid back on the outside, but high strung on the inside. Everything was an emergency.

I have been working at RTI Biologics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Manufacturing and quality teams are pretty well run. Middle and upper management is stronger in those areas, as are growth opportunities. Most of the employees are great. There is good positive culture in the office areas, and operations management does what they can to ensure work-life balance while pushing for good progress. Cost of living is low. The company seems to be making adequate long-term strategic moves to stay alive and grow. Benefits are solid.

    Cons

Sales, engineering, and IT are the weak areas for middle and upper management. I hear horror stories and see general managerial incompetence from sales, incompetence and a little bit of toxic behavior from IT, and a bunch of do-nothings who blow smoke and command no respect in engineering (despite the fact that they used to be movers and shakers). Quality assurance presence is strong and drag there feet all over the place. Pay could be better.

    Advice to Management

Work to better support and enable the S&OP process to prevent setting unachievable sales goals. This will alleviate the toxic sales/marketing environment in certain areas.

    Pros

    Competitive salaries
    Excellent benefits
    Community focused
    Great senior leadership

    Cons

    Highly politicized
    Lack of investment in employees
    Some aggressive middle management

    Advice to Management

You're heading in the right direction! There's room for improvement, but isn't there always? Grow the meritocracy and continue to flourish.

I worked at RTI Biologics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company is all about the patient and providing excellent products. The management is incredible, the training is comprehensive but not too much and the products are best in class. I was proud to represent them and wish circumstances were different. It is one of the few companies I have ever been with that I considered wanting to do something outside sales. I hated leaving. The culture is inclusive, team oriented and ethical.

    Cons

The company was hit with an FDA warning letter that diminished business in such a way that I would have starved. They are a bit cheap on the expenses and the hard tools they offer the field reps. That is pretty typical of ortho companies however.

    Advice to Management

Provide a laptop, the ipad does not cut it for your expectations. Provide a phone. Pay for gas and expenses. When hard times hit, your good people cannot survive and pay your bills.

    Pros

great work environment, coworkers, and location

    Cons

Executives and Senior management are not in touch with middle management or other employees. We were made many promises with no follow through or the exact opposite of what was promised would happen.

    Advice to Management

The company has grown to a point where new executive/director insight from established larger companies should be brought in for a fresh perspective
