I worked at RWE npower full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Close to home, very quiet and friendly workplace, many opportunities to develop something good and big as there's almost nothing really working now

    Cons

Small salary and derelict IT systems, sometimes the reaction times to problems are very very unsatisfying, ie one could wait for weeks to fix equipment

    Advice to Management

Increase the compensation and watch closer non-performing managers

    Pros

Flexible working, an interesting environment with staff benefits including annul bonuses for most grades, a subsidised staff canteen and opportunities to apply for one-off experiences such as company bike rides in aid of the corporate charity Macmillan

    Cons

Constant restructures (annually or sometimes even more frequent) and power struggles at senior level makes this a somewhat challenging environment where one managers' plan supersedes the previous managers idea on how things should be done.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend that a period of stabilisation be attempted, to slow down the pace of change to something that is more manageable, concentrate on doing what they already do, well.

    Pros

Friendly working environment, very helpful manager and colleagues.
Flexible working, and encouraged to do more and accomplish goals.
Good level of challenges and many different types of projects/work to get involved in.

    Cons

Weak IT systems meaning productivity is a lot lower than it could be if only better IT systems were put in place (computers need an upgrade).

Head office located in Swindon - not a very exciting city, this is a problem with the city rather than the company itself.

I have been working at RWE npower full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good holidays, decent pay, open and honest, great mental health support in fact, great support in general and facilities are excellent including a free gym. Good work life balance with opportunity to work agile.

    Cons

Perception of company not great due to previous senior management decisions leading to unsuccessful resolution of complaints.

    Advice to Management

Stay on track with current plans to reinvigorate the business and change how customers view npower. I have seen some senior managers being very hierarchical lately which needs to be nipped in the bud. There are a number of people who sadly fall into this area.
