I have been working at RaceTrac Petroleum full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall this is a great company . Benefits are a little pricey but at least they do offer them. You must be self motivated because you’re by yourself traveling store to store daily.

    Cons

I didn’t care for the shift of the job. Also working in weather below 40 degrees sucks.

    Advice to Management

Don’t have people pressure washing when it’s freezing balls outside!

I worked at RaceTrac Petroleum full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work isn't super hard. Relaxed dress code, relaxed schedule, nice office, generally nice people. Strong kool-aid culture.

    Cons

Agree completely with a previous reviewer who said: "there is a lot of nepotism and a culture of cliques. If you are not accepted within certain cliques or not a favored person of management despite you work ethic you may not get promotions or even post into lateral jobs."

Lots of 20-30 year olds trying to run a business. Senior management has no experience outside of RaceTrac.

Family drama - the CEO Allison Moran got kicked out by her dad, the chairman of the board, in late summer 2017 and no one really knows why.

They are trying to be a food retailer when all people see them as is a gas station.

    Advice to Management

Hire people with more experience. Pay competitively to the Atlanta market. Favoritism is showing up as an issue on your GPTW surveys for a reason.

I worked at RaceTrac Petroleum full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Laid back just like a family business, everything is not as important as it would be at other companies. Most of the people are very nice.

    Cons

Management is not engaged with reality. I agree with the previous posts, management started as interns and have been here since. No outside experience at all. which means this company does not operate like other companies. The focus of Racetrac is to keep doing what they have always been doing. Advancing the company needs experience from people that have more experience than, one job, at one company. In my opinion, they need to dismiss the entire upper management and hire outside experience. Lastly the current management acts like a bunch of lost souls in the wilderness, looking for something they don't know how to find, even if its right i front of them.

Oh by the way, it ask to rate the CEO. There is no CEO. She left, at least that's what they say. RaceTrac has been around longer than most of the top convenience stores, but comes in dead last as far as revenue and number of stores. I wonder why?

    Advice to Management

Leave the company. Only thing is, with your lack of management skills you won't be able to find another job. But leave anyway, and let people with real leadership skills come in and take this company to another level.

    Pros

The people and culture are fantastic, I made some long term friendships. I would for sure love to work in an environment like this again

    Cons

The Pay was pretty low, you will take on a lot of responsibility but at such little cost. Turn over rates are high.

    Pros

Although a larger corporate player, still has some traits of the family owned business it started as. Supportive management, at least in my experience. Fair pay for work done and encourages promotion from within.

    Cons

Management could be a little more transparent at times.

    Advice to Management

Be more forthcoming with changes that are coming down the pipe. Also more consistency between departments (Ie: policy changes, etc.) would be welcome.
