I worked at Rack Room Shoes full-time

    Pros

    Good discount, flexible schedule

    Cons

Some upper management with no education is allowed to run amok making unethical and possibly illegal business decisions. Expects a lot of work for the pay.

    Advice to Management

When you receive multiple complaints about one person from many valuable employees, you should listen.

    Pros

40% discount, helpful to the community, your selling something that can help people with more than just looks, promotes from within the company.

    Cons

Very low pay, for a company that can afford to donate millions outside the company, they should be able to pay the employees better.

    Advice to Management

If you have a good manager, just do your job. Follow the rules and regulations. If you can deal with the pay you will move up eventually.

I worked at Rack Room Shoes full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Workload is relatively easy. There are no other pros.

    Cons

Management communicates horribly. On days that are busy with customers, you are still expected to get as much done as slow days, as the deadlines don't stop.

No system of proper training for runs really exists. No direct disciplinary system exists, making handling employees issues and such hard.

Employee discount Is decent. However, even that has cons. Cannot be used on the 'buy one get one half off', which all the shoes except rainbow sandals are on. You don't get your discount off of sale items, only full priced items. Depending on what you buy, you're better off being a member of the rewards program instead of using the employee discount. But wait, you can't join member rewards because you're an employee!

Company does not do set schedules, must have open availability, they do not care even if your store managers can agree on a schedule, corporate will shoot it down.
Little incentive exists at this company. No bonuses. Regularly insulting emails from upper management, that are meant to be generally sarcastic, but come off as rude and disrespectful.

    Advice to Management

Communicate better. Train more thoroughly. Allow management to have schedules that they can agree on.

Doing flips so many product doesn't come in fast enough
